Introduction:
The most important molecule in living organisms is the DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid).
The DNA molecule contains the genetic information that serves as a basis for development,
growth, reproduction and among other important functions.
Information contained in this molecule is first copied, through transcription, into
mRNA before being translated to produce proteins. Using this knowledge, scientists
developed a new technology, Recombinant DNA technology, to combine DNA molecules
from two or more organisms in order to create a new molecule of DNA that consists of new
genetic combinations.
