Assignment for Advanced Biostatistics

Instructions
1. First, identify the statistical method that you want to apply in doing your assignment. You
may use Poisson regression, Ordinal logistic regression, Multinomial logistic regression,
Linear mixed effect model, Generalized Linear mixed effect model including the
respective descriptive methods. The group size (number of members in one group) should not
exceed three.
2. Find a data set to do your project work; you may get it from SPSS or Stata sample data
that were provided with the software or you may use any secondary data for example EDHS
data
3. Prepare a Title page, Table of content, and a stated Objective
4. Write a rich Methodological background about your (selected) statistical methods (model).
You may discuss a short history of the model, the type of variables that you have, (outcome
and independent variables), assumptions that should be fulfilled, other similar models that
can be used instead of it, the advantage (strength) of using the selected model over the other
possible models, and its limitations, etc. Whenever needed, please support your statements
with references (NB the background must be MORE OF methodological background and
subject matter related background information for your research question).
5. Check the fulfillment of the assumptions based on your data; if the assumption is not met,
conduct transformation of data or another model in the same family that overcomes the
assumptions.
6. Conduct the analysis using data set you have. Conduct different analyses within the same
model family to get the one that best fits your data if possible.
7. Check the fitness of your model (model fitness) using appropriate test
8. Give your conclusions and feasible recommendations based on only your findings.
9. Finally, prepare 15-20 pages word document for submission AND the data set you used.
