VISION SYSTEM PC

CONFIGURATION PROCEDURE
INTRODUCTION

The configuration of the Vision System PC running the Vision System

HMI (GDVision) is made up of 3 major steps:

• Basic configuration of the Vision System PC

• Adaptation of the PC to the target machine
• Configuration of the GDVision HMI

BASIC CONFIGURATION OF THE VISION SYSTEM PC

The items required to configure / restore a Vision System PC consist of:

• PS/2 or USB keyboard

• USB DVD-ROM unit
• image disk of the Windows XP Embedded Operating System
• Vision System PC setup / restore disk

The configuration procedure then consists of two stages:

• Stage 1 - restoring the factory image of the PC

• Stage 2 - installing the required software support packages

Stage 1 - restoring the factory image of the PC

Restores the factory image of the Vision System PC and depends on

the target hardware

Procedure for Phoenix Contact PCs:

1. Connect both keyboard and DVD-ROM unit to the PC, then Insert the
image disk of the Windows XP Embedded Operating System

2. Power up the PC keeping the “ESC” key pressed at startup, to recall

the boot menu

3. Select the DVD-ROM (Figure 1) then press enter

4. If the player does not appear in the list, restart the PC by pressing
CTRL+ALT+DEL then resume the procedure from point (2).

completes. In this phase the PC will reboot twice and remain apparently
frozen for about 5 minutes (on all models but Phoenix VMT5015).

9. When the desktop appears, wait until all the icons on the traybar are
loaded then proceed to step 2

Procedure for B&R PCs

System PC setup / restore disk into the reader

2. Power up the PC keeping the “CANC” key pressed at startup to enter

the BIOS, and set the USB DVDROM player as the primary booting

during which the setup disk must be removed from the DVDROM unit.

ADAPTATION OF THE PC TO THE TARGET MACHINE

The parameters involved in this process are:

• Name of the PC
• IP address
• Links to the programs to be activated

At the startup of the PC the system appears as shown in figure20, to let

the user check the details regarding the current configuration and the
status of the Ethernet link with the rest of the Vision System
environment.

To confirm the current configuration press the “OK” button next to its
[Link] change the current configuration, select the new name in the
Target Configuration panel (Figure 20).

Upon confirmation of the requested operation, the program:

After rebooting the Vision System PC, the configurator for the GDVision
HMI is displayed.
CONFIGURATION OF THE GDVISION HMI

The HMI configurator (Figure 21) is displayed automatically at the next

reboot of the PC after completion of the previous steps.

By using this tool the user can check / set, through the corresponding
boxes:

• The type of machine.

• The controls expected.
• The current date/time of the PC.
• The type of control to be assigned to each installed device.
• The fine customization of the HMI, including

- Setting of the mask in the OCR controls that contemplate it

The order in which configuration steps are performed is determined by

the program and is also displayed on the panel titles:

- The identification of the machine is done automatically by the program

- The first manual task is then to select the checks used, then click the
“V” button at the bottom of left panel

- The program applies the changes required to the system, and displays
the “Start GDVision” button on the bottom right corner (Figure 22)
