up to 100 using relation symbols. At the end of the
lesson learners should be able to:
a. compare numbers through 100 using the
expressions greater than, less than or equal to.
b. show the relationship of numbers using the
symbols >, < or = .
c. visualizes, represents and orders number up to
100 in increasing and decreasing order.

a. Motivation/Presentation
Play a song about greater than, less than, and
equal to. Paste lyrics on the board.
There was an alligator in the swamp,
Who'd sneak up on numbers and start to chomp,
Whenever two numbers sat on the ground,
She'd face the bigger one, and gobble it down!
Number gators like to eat what's greater
They turn their backs on what is less.
Their mouths open wide, for the bigger side.
And they munch down the whole great mess.
When there are two numbers that are the same,
The gator changes form and she swaps her
name.
Because she isn't sure exactly how to dine.
She stands right in the middle, as an equal sign.

Encourage asking questions like:
Who is the main character in the song?
What was his favourite thing to chomp
on?
What symbols are used in the video?

Activity 1.
Paste a chart on the board that shows a set of smileys,
and have the learners analyze it.

Encourage asking questions like:
What are your observations about the set
of smiley faces?
The class will be divided into two groups. Each group
will be answering the following questions on a piece of
paper.
Activity 2.
Present manipulative: an alligator with an open mouth
and two fish on either side. This alligator represents the
greater than, less than, and equal to sign. The teacher
will give a number and the learners will figure out what
sign to use.
Encourage students by:
Asking the students to choose the
numbers themselves.
Giving the sign first then figure out the
numbers that can make the chosen sign
accurate.
EXPLAIN
The teacher will review and check each question from
the first activity together with the learners.
