1. Introduction to Computer: A computer is an electronic device that accepts data, processes it, and
gives meaningful output. It works on IPO cycle – Input, Process, Output.

2. Characteristics of Computer: Speed, Accuracy, Diligence, Versatility, Storage, Automation.

3. Types of Computer: Super Computer, Mainframe, Mini Computer, Micro Computer (Desktop,
Laptop, Tablet, Smartphone).

4. Hardware: Physical parts of computer like Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor, CPU, Printer, Scanner.

5. Software: Set of programs that control computer. Two types – System Software and Application
Software.

6. Operating System: Acts as interface between user and hardware. Examples – Windows, Linux,
Android, iOS. Functions: File management, memory management, process management.

7. Input Devices: Keyboard, Mouse, Scanner, MICR, OMR, OCR, Barcode reader, Joystick.

8. Output Devices: Monitor, Printer, Plotter, Speaker, Projector.
