🧠 STEP 2 — DISCUSSION (10–15 min)
Understanding Your Learning Brain
Goal:
🕐 Lesson Stages
1️⃣ WARM-UP (10 min) — Wake Up Your Brain!
Goal: Activate students, get them talking, and connect to the topic.
Activity 1 – “Quick Think” Game (5 min):
Say a word, students answer quickly with the first word that comes to
mind.
Examples: coffee, sleep, brain, English, weekend, teacher.
Then say:
“Great! Your brain is awake. Let’s test it in four languages!”
Activity 2 – “My Brain Speaks Four Languages” (5 min):
Use the sentences table in English, Portuguese, Finnish, and Spanish.
Let students repeat and mix them.
Ask:
“Which language was easiest?”
“Which one made your brain work harder?”
Transition:
“Our brain is powerful, but to learn better, we need to understand how it
works!”
2️⃣ DISCUSSION (10–15 min) — Understanding Your Learning Brain
Goal: Get students to reflect on their own learning habits.
Ask these questions (in pairs or small groups):
1. “What is difficult for you when learning English?”
2. “What usually helps you learn better?”
3. “Do you study better in the morning or at night?”
4. “Do you like learning alone or with others?”
Then discuss together as a class.
Write some answers on the board under two columns:
🧱 Hard for me: (e.g., grammar, speaking, remembering words)
🌱 What works: (e.g., listening to music, talking to friends, watching
series)
Transition:
“Good! You already know some strategies that work for you.
Now let’s see how we can help the brain learn even better.”
3️⃣ MAIN PART (15–20 min) — How to Boost Your Brain for Learning
Present and discuss these Brain Boosting Methods (you can write them
on the board):

4️⃣ REFLECTION (10 min) — Plan Your Brain Routine
Ask students to think and write:
“After everything we talked about today — what would you add to your
learning routine to boost your brain?”
Examples:
“I will drink more water when I study.”
“I will take short breaks.”
“I will review vocabulary every week.”
“I will sleep earlier before big tests.”
Then let some students share their ideas aloud.
5️⃣ CLOSING (5 min)
End with motivation:
“Remember — learning English is not only about books or grammar.
It’s about taking care of your brain and body.
When your brain feels good, learning becomes easier — and more fun!”
Get students to reflect on their personal learning habits and explore
different methodologies that can help them learn English more effectively.
🗣 Part 1: Pair / Small Group Discussion
Ask students these questions (and write them on the board):
1. What is difficult for you when learning English?
2. What usually helps you learn better?
3. Do you prefer studying alone or with others?
4. Do you remember better by listening, reading, writing, or speaking?
5. How often do you review what you learn?
Give them 5–7 minutes to discuss, then share ideas as a class.
Write their answers on the board in two columns:
🧱 Hard for me:
(grammar, pronunciation, remembering vocabulary, speaking
confidently...)
🌱 What works:
(listening to music, watching shows, speaking to friends, using
flashcards...)
🧩 Part 2: Introduce 5 Learning Methodologies / Good Practices
Now say:
“There are many ways to learn — our brains are all different.
Let’s look at five learning methods that can help us study English more
effectively.”
You can show these on slides, write them on the board, or hand out a

You can also make a quick class poll by raising hands.
💬 Transition to Step 3:
“Now that we know some methods and what works for us,
let’s see what our brains actually need to stay strong, focused, and ready
to learn.”
