CHAPTER I

INTODUCTION

Research Problem

In today’s digital age the main ones that people already

used are, gadgets such as smartphones, laptops, and tablets have
become integral part of students’ lives.

These devices offer various functionalities and resources

that can enhance learning experiences and provide access to a
wealth of information. However, it is also essential to examine
how the use of gadgets impact the academic performance of grade-
11 HUMSS students.

Research Rationale

The gadgets are the most preferred by using students in

their outputs. Today generation that students tend to spend more
time using gadgets than studying, which can negatively affect
their studying habits and academic performance. The study
highlighted the importance of understanding the advantage and
disadvantage of gadgets use and its impact to students’ academic
performance

With the digital era, technology has become a part of

our life especially among students. In education gadgets is the
first demand can help to better acquire knowledge or foster
activity. Many different form of technology such as digital
television, projectors, smart board and most influential the
helpful that we called gadgets. Also technology have an origin
and a process of evolution, W. Bian Arthur, (2009)

Students are experiencing the problems in academic

performance due to, there some students who not catching up with
those lesson. But with the assist of gadgets were able to learn
more and be advanced in other things. Otherwise gadgets have
observed that negatively affect from being addicted to using
social networks, online games. Undoubtedly, gadgets have profound
impact on the lives.

The research study is more aim to understand the

impact of gadgets in academic performance of HUMSS 11
students. Additionally, it will find out what is the procedure to
aid of gadgets to students in academic performance.

There among student consistently using gadgets that aim

to accomplishment the academic performance. It also gives the
students adequate knowledge for what it contributes to the study
of HUMSS 11 students.

Statement of the Problem

The study intended to know the impact of gadgets to

help the academic performance of HUMSS 11 student from AAMNHS

Especially, it sought answered to the

Following:

1. How gadgets can enhance learning and engagement when used

effectively in academic performance?
2. What are the way of guidance and supervision from parents,
teaching can help students to know the right when using
gadgets?
3. What is the good and the bad side effects by using gadgets
of students in your daily life?
4. Why do you use modern technology in your academic
performance and how it was helped you?

Significance of the study

The findings of our research study would be help the

most teachers, students, schools and future researcher.

Teacher. The result of this study are beneficial to teachers so

that they can teach easily the students just only using gadgets
and become more creative way of teaching

Students. The result of this study are more likely to the

students because gadgets helps them to do their task easier and
achieve their academic dream

School. The result of this research are beneficial to school

because gadgets can make our school become more advanced

Future Researcher. The result of this research will help the

future researcher because it will guide them to make their
research become informative

Scope and Delimination of the study

This study focused of the effects of using gadgets of the

students to their academic performance in AAMNHS senior high
school

The researcher only focused on the importance of using

gadgets to improve the academic performance of the students

The respondents of the study are the students of senior

high school in AAMNHS using a simple random sampling. The
instrument used by researcher are survey questionnaire.

Review of Related Literature

This chapters present the review of related literature and

studies of the impact of using gadgets in academic performance
about to explain it among senior high school.

Impact of Gadgets

Based on the study of Marthur V. study. The article “Modern

Day Gadgets of Impact on Academic Performance” (2020) explains
that modern day which can be easily carried to another. These are
being used by the younger generation today for brighter prospects
but they end up falling to its harmful effects. Though, there are
significant advantage arising from these “Tech Devices” like
easily accessibility to information, instant connectivity,
enhancement in knowledge.

Furthermore, the majority of students who spend more time on

electronic gadgets use has high level of dependency towards
gadgets, poor achievements and good health status. That should
plan effectively intervention such as introduce application on
electronic devices for academic purposes so that students can
balance between their academic performance and health status and
increase wellness and health among school students (Noratikah
Othman,2020)

Then the socialization into scientific writing are revealed

though a study of the goal is learned the value of using gadgets
especially in student academic performance such as balancing time
in making project, activity, assignment through the guidance of
parents and teachers. The students who stressed especially when
doing time management so its giving attention to give the

importance of writing in research to their future life (The

Internet and Higher Education “N.d).

Perception on Academic performance

The advancement of gadgets has many aspects and impact to

the human existence, including in the field of education leading
to Improve the academic performance of students,

Particularly, gadgets can enhance the skills of the students and

improve their academic performance because of the used of
gadgets. We think using gadgets can help the students to achieve
a good future and become more advance in technology. We suggest
that we need gadgets in our life.

In addition to the researcher knowledge, several of research have

been done on identifying the obstacle and challenges that the
students confront in academic performance.

The student perception can be acted based on what they see on

other student that conducting a research. The result of this
perception can give the students certain knowledge about the
proper usage of gadgets to know the benefits of it. These
perceptions can help other students that don't have the basic
foundation of knowledge about the importance of this study.

Effects of Using Gadgets

According to an article by Bayanova (S.2018) titled

“Qualitative Analysis on the Interrelation with Gadgets use at
Lessons” the Interrelation with gadgets use at lessons have a
positive impact on academic performance consist in the fact that
with the help of technical devices, students receive a share of
information, prepare for classes, record lectures, view the
textbook on the study.

In addition, comparing to studying in own lectures than

using gadgets is revealed that gadget and lectures examines the
effects of findings, limitations and suggestions for provided in
the study although there is a good and bad side to how well
students, teachers understand the interrelation analysis to
teaching situations.

Concluding regarding the direct effects of student’s

experience with the use of gadgets. Overall, the study shows
positive and negative impact for learning in academic
performance. But the teacher and educators have right information
for successful and its full potential in improving academic
performance.

In conclusion this effects in students in a good way, if

have right information to properly use. This also provides the
skills for the teachers by assessing the students to improve
their skills.

CHAPTER III

Research methodology

This chapter presents the methods the researcher will

employ in analyzing and interpreting the data pertaining to the
variables of the study.

Research design

In this study, the researcher employed the descriptive

qualitative method to determine the factors and benefits of
gadgets to improve the academic performance of HUMSS 11 students
in Aurelio Arago Memorial National High School

In this study, the effects and the factors of the

gadgets among HUMSS students was described and determined
thoroughly

Research locale

This study was conducted at Aurelio Arago Memorial

National High School. The school is located at Leido Victoria
Oriental Mindoro it was conducted on the second semester of the
school year 2023-2024

Respondents of the study

The respondents of the study were the HUMSS 11 students

at Aurelio Arago Memorial National High School. Consist of 3
section, in each there were 3-5 respondents chosen through quota
sampling

Research instrument

The study uses a survey questionnaire for interview and

observation to determine the impact of gadgets among HUMSS 11
students

The survey questionnaire determines the good and bad

effects of gadgets and observation was used to determine the
effectiveness of using gadgets as a student

Data Gathering Procedure

A letter of request duly signed by the adviser and

Senior High School Coordinator for the study to be conducted was
sent to the one of the Assistant and Principal for approval. The
Researchers will ask for consent to the respondents for
participation on answering survey questionnaire to become their
respondent.

The Researcher personally administered the survey-

questionnaires through interview to the respondents. These were
immediately response to Researcher after the interview.
