The Freelancer’s Sales Playbook
How I Craft Irresistible Offers, Handle Pricing, and
Convert Discovery Calls into Clients
Why This Matters
You can be the best at your service (SEO, SMM, design, writing), but if you don’t know:
● how to position your offer,
● when to reveal pricing,
● and how to lead a call…
👉 you’ll stay stuck with “I’ll think about it” clients.
This playbook gives you my exact system for:
1. Crafting offers clients can’t resist.
2. Leading discovery and sales calls with confidence.
3. Knowing when to drop the price live and when to send it later.
Part 1: Crafting Irresistible Offers
🎯 Goal: Sell outcomes, not services.
Most freelancers say:
● “I’ll manage your social media.”
● “I’ll optimize your website.”
❌ That’s a service.
✅ Clients want a transformation.
My Offer Crafting Formula:
[Outcome] + [Specific Timeframe] + [Unique Mechanism]
Examples:
● “I help D2C brands increase organic traffic by 50% in 90 days using my 3-step SEO
Roadmap.”
● “I help coaches book 5–10 qualified sales calls a week with a LinkedIn funnel, without
spending on ads.”
📋 Exercise for You:
● Write down your service.
● Translate it into an outcome-focused offer.
● Add a clear timeframe and your unique way of doing it.
Part 2: Discovery Calls vs. Sales Calls
🔑 The Difference:
● Discovery Call (15–20 mins): Qualify the lead. Understand goals, pain points, budget.
● Sales Call (30–45 mins): Present your offer, handle objections, close the deal.
Discovery Call Framework (Qualify)
1. Warm-up → small talk, rapport.
2. Business Context → “Tell me about your business and what’s working now.”
3. Pain Points → “What challenges are you facing?”
4. Goals → “Where do you want to be in the next 6–12 months?”
5. Budget Fit → “Have you worked with a freelancer/agency before? What was the budget
range?”
6. Next Step → Book sales call if they’re a good fit.
🔑 Rule: Do NOT pitch here. Your job is to listen.
Sales Call Framework (Convert)
1. Recap Their Goals → Show you listened.
2. Present Your Offer → Outcome + Timeframe + Unique System.
3. Show Social Proof → Case study, testimonial, result screenshot.
4. Pricing Conversation (covered in Part 3).
5. Handle Objections → “I need to think about it,” “It’s expensive,” etc.
6. Next Step → Close the deal or move to proposal.
Part 3: Pricing Psychology – When to Say It vs. Send It
Later
This is where most freelancers slip. If you handle it wrong, the deal dies.
🟢 When to Say Pricing on the Call:
● Clear, Standard Offers → e.g., “LinkedIn Ghostwriting Package = ₹50K/month.”
● Low-ticket or Mid-ticket Services (₹10K–₹80K) where scope is simple.
● When Client is Ready → They’ve shown urgency and trust you.
👉 Example:
“Based on everything you shared, my package to help you achieve XYZ is ₹50,000/month. It
includes [list deliverables].”
🟡 When to Send Pricing After the Call:
● Custom Projects → e.g., website redesign, SEO with many moving parts.
● High-ticket Packages (₹1L–₹5L+) → Let them feel the value before seeing the price.
● When Multiple Stakeholders Are Involved → They’ll need a proposal to show
internally.
👉 How to Frame It:
“I’ll put together a detailed roadmap + pricing proposal within 24 hours so you can review it with
your team. This way, you’ll see exactly how the investment connects to your goals.”
Part 4: Handling Objections Like a Pro
Common Objections + Responses
1. “It’s expensive.”
→ “Compared to what? If you invest ₹1L and your sales increase by ₹5L, is that
expensive?”
2. “I need to think about it.”
→ “Of course — what specifically would you like to think through?” (Uncover hidden
objection.)
3. “Can you give me a discount?”
→ “I don’t discount my services, but I can adjust scope to fit your budget.”
🔑 Rule: Never fight objections, reframe them.
Part 5: Closing the Deal
How I Close Calls in 2 Steps:
1. Assume the Sale → “Should I send over the contract now or later today?”
2. Urgency Without Pressure → “I only take on 2 new clients a month, and I have one
spot left for this month.”
Part 6: Follow-Up System
Even if they don’t close on the call, don’t ghost.
● 24 hours → Send proposal/summary email.
● 48–72 hours → Follow up with a new angle (“Here’s a quick video walkthrough of the
plan I’d implement for you.”).
● 1 week later → Final nudge with deadline (“I’m holding this spot till Friday.”).
✅ Action Steps for You
● Rewrite your offer today → focus on outcomes.
● Use the discovery call script on your next lead.
● Decide your pricing rule → when to say live vs. send later.
