II. BACKGROUND AND E XISTING SYSTEMS
A. Back and existing system
Road safety has become a critical global concern due to the alarming rise in traffic accidents, injuries, and
fatalities. Contributing factors such as impaired driving, inadequate visibility, blind spots, and insufficient
response during emergencies highlight the need for advanced safety systems in vehicles. Traditional vehicle
safety systems often include basic features like airbags, anti-lock braking systems (ABS), and mechanical theft
deterrents, which, while somewhat successful, are limited in addressing modern challenges.
Existing advanced systems, such as automatic collision avoidance, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise
control, are predominantly found in high-end vehicles, making them inaccessible to many drivers due to cost
constraints. Moreover, many of these systems function in isolation rather than offering an integrated solution.
Some existing systems for specific safety challenges include alcohol detection devices that are often standalone
units requiring manual installation, high beam detection systems that rely on camera-based technologies, and
GPS trackers that primarily focus on anti-theft functionality. However, these systems lack real-time
communication and comprehensive integration with other features. Blind spot monitoring is typically achieved
using expensive radar-based systems, while accident detection systems often rely solely on accelerometers,
limiting their accuracy.
The need for a cost-effective, multifunctional system that integrates various technologies—such as sensors,
communication modules, and microcontrollers—has become evident to address these limitations. By combining
high beam detection, alcohol monitoring, blind spot alerts, accident detection, and GPS-based real-time tracking
into a cohesive framework, modern systems like the Multifunctional Vehicle Security System represent a
significant step toward bridging the gap between affordability and advanced safety features.
B. Literature Survey
Several studies have investigated methods for detecting high beam headlights and developing automatic
dimming systems. For example, Tan et al. (2019) developed an intelligent lighting control system using LDRs
and microcontrollers to detect oncoming vehicles' headlights and adjust the light intensity accordingly. Their
findings indicate that automatic dimming significantly reduces glare and enhances road safety, providing a
strong foundation for the implementation of similar technologies in this project.
Various research works focus on accident detection using tilt sensors and accelerometers. A study by Gupta et al.
(2020) presented a vehicle accident detection system that utilizes an accelerometer to monitor sudden changes in
motion. The system automatically sends alerts to emergency services, demonstrating the efficacy of integrating
real-time monitoring with communication technologies. This approach highlights the potential for incorporating
tilt sensors into the proposed vehicle security system to improve emergency response times.
Ultrasonic sensors have been widely used for proximity detection and collision avoidance in automotive
applications. According to a study by Kaur et al. (2021), ultrasonic sensors can effectively measure distances to
nearby objects, providing critical data for blind spot monitoring and enhancing driver awareness. Their findings
support the implementation of ultrasonic sensors in this project to prevent collisions and improve situational
awareness. The need for effective alcohol detection systems is underscored by numerous studies on impaired
driving. A study by Zhang et al. (2018) developed an alcohol detection system using the MQ-3 sensor, which
measures alcohol concentration in breath. The researchers found that integrating such systems into vehicles can
significantly reduce instances of drunk driving. This research provides a solid basis for including alcohol
detection in the multifunctional vehicle security system to promote responsible driving.
The use of voice alerts in vehicles has been explored in various applications, particularly for enhancing driver
communication. For instance, studies by Liu et al. (2022) have demonstrated that voice alert systems can
effectively convey critical information to drivers, improving their situational awareness without distracting them
from driving tasks. Incorporating Bluetooth technology to deliver voice alerts in this project aligns with these
findings, ensuring that drivers receive timely information regarding potential hazards.
The integration of GPS technology for real-time vehicle tracking has become increasingly important in vehicle
security systems. Research by Kumar et al. (2021) highlights the effectiveness of GPS-based tracking systems in
recovering stolen vehicles and monitoring their location. The study indicates that incorporating GPS capabilities
into the proposed vehicle security system will enhance its overall functionality, providing owners with peace of
mind and improving recovery chances in theft situations.
The concept of integrating multiple safety features into a single vehicle system has gained traction in recent
years. Research by Patel et al. (2023) emphasized the benefits of combining various sensor technologies to create
a cohesive vehicle safety framework that addresses multiple hazards simultaneously. This aligns with the

4337
objective of the multifunctional vehicle security system to provide an all-encompassing solution that enhances
safety, security, and driver awareness.

III. PROPOSED METHODOLOGY

A. System Architecture
The proposed methodology for the implementation of the Multipurpose Delivery Robot with Automated Control
and Security Features involves a systematic integration of hardware and software components to achieve optimal
performance. The system starts with the selection of an ESP32 microcontroller, which acts because it serves as
the core processing unit. robust dual communication capabilities via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The purpose of this
microcontroller is to backbone, connecting and controlling various sensors and modules essential for the
system's functionality.
Key sensors, including a Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) for detecting high-beam glare, a tilt sensor for
accident detection, ultrasonic sensors for blind spot monitoring, and an alcohol sensor for identifying intoxicated
drivers, are carefully calibrated and interfaced with the microcontroller. Additionally, the GPS module is
incorporated to enable real-time location tracking, and a relay module is added for dynamic control of light
intensity to ensure energy-efficient operation.
The sensors are calibrated to predefined thresholds, ensuring precise detection of critical events. For example,
the LDR is programmed to monitor and identify the intensity of incoming headlights, automatically dimming
lights when required to reduce glare and improve visibility for drivers. Similarly, the alcohol sensor detects
alcohol levels in the driver’s breath, disabling the vehicle if the threshold is exceeded, thereby promoting safe
driving behavior. The tilt sensor identifies abnormal tilts indicating possible accidents, while ultrasonic sensors
continuously monitor the vehicle’s surroundings to detect blind spots or obstacles. All sensor data is processed in
real-time by the ESP32 microcontroller, which runs algorithms designed to compare the inputs against
programmed thresholds and trigger appropriate responses.
Communication is an important component of the system. Bluetooth is used to deliver real-time voice alerts,
informing drivers of potential hazards, such as obstacles or safety concerns, directly in the vehicle. Meanwhile,
the Wi-Fi module connects to the Telegram messaging platform to send alerts to designated contacts during
emergencies.
Finally, the system undergoes comprehensive testing and validation to ensure reliability and effectiveness in
real-world scenarios. Each feature is tested rigorously under controlled conditions to verify its accuracy and
responsiveness.

B. Dataflow
The Multifunctional vehicle security system using ESP32 is a comprehensive system designed to integrate
advanced safety mechanisms, automated operations, and driver monitoring technologies into a cohesive
workflow. The project leverages the ESP32 microcontroller as the central processing unit, enabling seamless
communication between multiple sensors and components. Upon powering the system, the initialization phase
configures all sensors and modules, ensuring they are ready for continuous data collection and processing. A
user-friendly LCD display provides status updates, informing users that the system is fully operational and
actively monitoring its surroundings.

4338
Among the primary functionalities of the system is high beam detection, implemented through a Light
Dependent Resistor (LDR). High-beam glare is a significant cause of accidents, especially during night driving.
The LDR monitors the intensity of light emitted by oncoming vehicles. If the intensity exceeds a predefined
threshold, the system automatically activates a relay module to dim the vehicle's headlights. This feature
significantly reduces glare for other drivers, enhancing visibility and safety on the road. If no high beam is
detected, the headlights operate normally, ensuring an uninterrupted driving experience.
The system is equipped with a tilt sensor to detect unusual orientations of the automotive that may indicate an
accident, like a rollover or collision. Should an accident occur, the ESP32 retrieves the GPS location of the
vehicle and transmits it to emergency contacts via the Telegram messaging platform. This rapid response
mechanism ensures that emergency services or family members can quickly locate and assist the driver. If no
accident is detected, the system continues its routine monitoring of other parameters, ensuring comprehensive
safety coverage.
Blind spot detection is another critical feature of the system, enabled by ultrasonic sensors strategically
positioned around the vehicle. These sensors continuously scan the vehicle's surroundings to identify obstacles in
blind spots, which are common causes of accidents during lane changes or turns. If an object is detected, the
system sends an immediate voice alert to the driver via a Bluetooth module, allowing them to take corrective
actions. If no obstacles are detected, the system maintains its safe driving mode, promoting a smooth and hazard-
free driving experience.
The system employs an IR sensor to monitor the driver's hand positions on the steering wheel. This feature is
designed to detect one-handed or distracted driving, which can compromise vehicle control.
If the IR sensor identifies one-handed driving, a voice alert is issued to prompt the driver to adopt safer practices
by using both hands on the wheel. This proactive approach ensures that the driver remains attentive and in full
control of the automotive at all times. If the driver maintains safe driving behavior, the system continues normal
operations without interference.
Ensuring driver sobriety is a cornerstone of the system's safety measures. The alcohol sensor continuously
analyzes the driver's breath for alcohol content. If the alcohol level exceeds the permissible limit, the system
takes decisive action by disabling the vehicle's ignition, effectively preventing the driver from operating the
vehicle under the influence. Additionally, a voice alert is generated to notify the driver of the ignition lock and
the reason behind it. This feature is essential to reducing the risk ofalcohol-related accidents, safeguarding both
the chauffeur and other road users.
The system runs in an ongoing loop, with all sensors working simultaneously to detect and react to various
Security and safety conditions. The ESP32 microcontroller orchestrates these processes, utilizing its
computational power to analyze data and trigger appropriate actions in real time. This ensures that the system
remains vigilant and responsive to changing conditions, providing a robust safety net for the driver and vehicle.
The system incorporates dual communication mechanisms to enhance its effectiveness. Bluetooth connectivity is
used for immediate alerts to the driver, such as voice notifications for blind spot detection, one-handed driving,
or high-beam glare. Simultaneously, the Wi-Fi-enabled ESP32 module allows the system to send critical
information, such as accident alerts and GPS coordinates, to external contacts via Telegram. This dual approach
ensures that both the driver and external stakeholders are informed of potential issues, enabling timely
intervention and assistance. The system's modular design allows for easy integration of additional features or
sensors, making it highly scalable for future upgrades. For instance, the inclusion of AI-based image processing
modules could further enhance object detection and driver monitoring capabilities. Similarly, the system could
be adapted for various vehicle types, including commercial trucks, passenger cars, and autonomous delivery
robots. This versatility makes the project relevant not only to individual drivers but also to industries and
institutions looking to enhance fleet safety and efficiency.
The implementation of this system addresses critical challenges in road safety and vehicle security, making it
highly relevant to society and industry. The ability to prevent accidents, monitor driver behavior, and respond
promptly to emergencies has far reaching implications for reducing fatalities and improving the overall driving
experience.
