• Question 1: Instrument categorization and Function
I(a) Instrument:Is any tool or utensil used for laboratory test an instrument is a device
that measures a physical quantity such as flow, concentration temperature, level,
angle, distance and pressure instruments may be as simple as direct reading
examples include thermometers.
(b) Equipment: the measuring tools used in a scientific laboratory often electronic in
nature. Laboratory equipment is generally called scientific [Link] laboratory
and scientific are increasingly being designed and shared using open hardware
[Link] equipment includes tools such as Bunsen burner and
microscopes as well as speciality equipment such as, spectrophotometers and
colorimeters,water bath.
(C) Apparatus:Is a set of equipment or tools or a machine that is used for a particular
purpose laboratory apparatus is the individual instrument or the entire set of
equipment to conduct projects in experiment the most common utensils and
appliances are beak ,test tube bullet, funnel in the Petri dish etc.
(d)Divice and machinery:These are specific functional tools to enhance the quality of
work in the lab pH meter ,stopwatch, time and thermometer etc
(ii) Laboratory items such as instruments, equipment, Apparatus, and machinery often
overlap, because one item can serve, more than one purpose, for example,as
spectrophotometer is an instrument but it is also consider equipment since it is a
major, laboratory [Link] overlap happens because laboratory work is practical
and strict boundaries between categories are not always realistic. Despite the overlap
this distinctions are important for the boratory management and procurement
procurement instrument usually needs calibration maintenance and apparatus are
often replaced helps in control maintenance planning and safe operation ensuring The
Laboratory efficiently.
(2)(I)Saved first: ensure your personal safe and the safety of others in the vicinity
evacuate the area first.
Ventilate the area: open windows to reduce the concentration of vapors.
Notify the superviser immediately inform your supervisors or the lab manager about
the an unlabeled container.
(I) Documentation
fill out a detailed incident as soon as soon as possible and report.
Describe exactly what happened including how the unlabeled container was
discovered.
If the chemical was identified not its name concentration and its hazards.
List the names of all individuals involved in the incident.
Didn’t report you reviewed and signed off by your supervised and the lab safety
officer.
(i) Administrative controls.
Implement strict labeling for all chemical containers with name concentration and
hazards it as.
Conduct regular inspections of the containers to identify any unlabeled or improperly
stored chemicals.
Establish clear consequences for failing to follow safety procedures.
(3)((I)
(a)Pre-checks
Inspect the instrument for any visible damage, loose, connections,or signs of wear
and.
Verify power supply, ensure the instrument is properly connected to a power source.
Clean the sample Holder, ensure that all the samples are clean .
• (b) Component-wise Diagnostics
Check lamp intensity:use a built-in diagnostic function to assess the lamps
intensity and stability.
Monochromator .
Wavelength accuracy:verify the wavelength accuracy using certified reference
materials.
Cuvette Quality:use high-quality cuvettes that are free from scratches.
(c) Carnation and validation steps.
Wavelength calibration the absorbance scale of the instrument.
Validation: After calibration validate the instruments performance by
measuring known standards.
(d)(When to escalate to technical support .
Unresolved errors:if you encounter errors that you cannot resolve using trouble
shooting steps [Link] the issue to technical support.
Suspected Hardware malfunctions:if you suspect a hardware malfunction
contact the technical support.
(ii)The liability and accuracy of data in any scientific or industrial endure hinge
critically on two key factor meticulous instrument maintenance and
comprehensive operator training these elements are not merely procedural from
formality they are fundamental pillars supporting the integrity of results and the
safety piece safety personnel proper instrument or maintenance indoors that the
equipment function with his specified parameters delivering consistent consistent
and accurate measurement go currently well trained operator are adept at using
the the same instrument correctly interpreting that effectively and recognizing
[Link] example, improper use of uv flames can expose users to harmful
radiation while poor Centrifuge handling can cause mechanical failure and
injuries.
