Development Administration
What is development administration?
Is an action oriented field within public administration focused on
managing, and implementing policies for socioeconomic progress, with
the aim to improve citizens quality of life through planned changes like
poverty reduction, modernization and better governance.
Development Administration involves both the administration of
development ( executing plans) and (administrative changes to strengthen
bureaucratic capacity to handle change).
According to GF Gant 1979 development administration is that aspect of
public administration in which they focus emphasis and innovative
dimension, requiring new methods and policies in order to facilitate
socioeconomic progress and making development attractive and possible
for the citizens or populations.
Development administration is distinct from traditional administration
and which focuses on law, order, and regulatory efficiency e.g tax
collection and maintenance of the status quo
Development administration is concerned about growth, transformation
and achieving societal goals through reducing inequality and building
infrastructure, it involves moving from traditional administration to a
more complex and modern administration through innovation
It is transforming traditional society to a modern society.
MODERNIZATION
Modernization is a broad shift from traditional, rural, agrarian ways of life
to contemporary, urban industrialized societies, involving massive
changes in technology, economy, politics and culture, focusing on
progress efficiency and secularism through industrialization, education
and new institutions.

infrastructure and developing advanced systems. Modernization imbibes

GROWTH
Growth is a progressive quantitative increase in size and complexity, it has
to do with increase in value and output investment and or the economy
and subsequently to development

IT Describes a state where the country’s economic, social and industrial
progress is at it’s lowest ebb or lacks behind its potential and
characterized by widespread poverty, low living conditions or standards,
poor infrastructure and limited access to healthcare and education and
more often linked to historical exploitation and unequal global systems

High unemployment and limited access to capital. It is also associated
