It has been a projection to the future that it could be a trend in which autonomous vehicles will occur on

the road and humans just play roles as passengers. This has led to a controversial discussion whether
the merits of robotic transportation override its shortcomings. From my perspective, the drawbacks of
this craze have a likelihood to predominate over the benefits it brings and the reasons for my outlook
will be elucidated in the following paragraphs.

First and foremost, beyond the shadow of a doubt, robotic commuting vehicles still have their own
advantages such as the improvements made in safety on account of the automatic program which offers
little chances of mistaking unlike human driver who easily got distracted by the background sound,
outside factors or even being worn out due to the long journeys. Besides, aside from the mentioned
benefit, autonomous cars provide opportunities for those who are handicapped and deprived of
mobility to commute to the destinations themselves. Moreover, the autonomous cars will mostly be
electrically powered vehicles which means these vehicles are considered eco-friendly and driving them
could contribute to the sustainability of the environment on account of the mitigation in the emissions
released.

Having said that, the demerits of self-driving vehicles seems to overshadow its strong points on the
grounds that the initial cost for a autonomous transportation may be unaffordable when concerning the
average salary of households whether it is assembled in that country or being import. Furthermore,
happenstances may occur on the journey but with the automatic program installed, robotic vehicles may
be unable to deal with sudden problems while human drivers especially those who are rich in
experience could immediately find an appropriate solution to them . On top of that, when the
malfunction appears in the self-driving cars, it entails numbers of consequences which could threaten
the passengers’ safety. Additionally, the fact that there is a multitude of inhabitants are now making a
living from driving could be evident through the growing number of apps for contacting drivers such as
grab, gojek,…. Therefore, the utilization of autonomous vehicles in the transporting and trucking
industry instead of human drivers could engender the jump in the unemployment rate and put pressing
pressure on the residents’ life.

In conclusion, it’s undeniable that driverless vehicles has supplied better changes in humans’ life
especially in the modern era. However, the accompanying drawbacks in the application of automated
cars seem to override the its merits and hinder the use of robotic vehicles in daily life.
