Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers

The Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers aims to set out clear expectations of teachers along
well-defined career stages of professional development from beginning to distinguished practice;
engage teachers to actively embrace a continuing effortin attaining proficiency; and apply uniform
measure to assess teacher performance, identifyneeds, and provide support for professional
development. PPST shall also be used as basis for all learning and development programs for teachers to
ensure that teachers are properlyequipped to effectively implement the K to 12 program. It can also be
used for the selectionand promotion of teachers. All performance appraisals for teachers shall be based
on this setof [Link] accordance with the PPST, there are seven domains that we, teachers should
beabided: (1) Content Knowledge and Pedagogy; (2) Learning Environment; (3) Diversity of Learners; (4)
Curriculum and Planning; (5) Assessment and Reporting; (6) CommunityLinkages and Professional
Engagement; and (7) Personal Growth and ProfessionalDevelopment. With these seven domains, I am
now guided on where I should strive to do better as a teacher. When I read the standards, I am able to
reflect about my strengths andweaknesses. Because of this, I now have an idea of what types of
professional development programs appropriate for me. During this pandemic, the PPST guides me in
discerning whichcompetencies I should have as a proficient teacher so I can deliver which learning
modalitiesare applicable for my students. Moreover, PPST indeed helped me especially in guiding to
become a quality teacher. I believe that when you equip yourself with the standards of beinga well-
rounded teacher, absolutely you will produce a high-caliber learners.
