Classroom Management
Take a moment to think back to your time as an elementary pupil or as a high school
student and recall some of your favorite classes. Very likely, those classes were well-
organized, instructions and assignments were clear, lectures and classroom discussions
were focused and interesting, and the teacher conveyed a passion for teaching and
compassion for the students. How can you create such an environment in your own
classes?
Classroom management is the process of using techniques and strategies to ensure a
productive and positive learning environment by minimizing disruptions and maximizing
student engagement. It involves establishing clear rules, routines, and
expectations; creating an organized physical space; building positive relationships
between teachers and students; and delivering engaging instruction. The goal is to help
students stay focused, on task, and motivated while promoting their social and emotional
development.
Effective classroom management entails meticulous planning but also a readiness to
switch gears and move away from the script when necessary; it requires firm control but
also a willingness to relinquish that control to take advantage of a teachable moment; it
requires leadership but also a sense of compassion and understanding of your students.
Effective classroom management begins with strong organizational skills—preparing your
materials carefully, practicing with the technology, and getting a sense of how to best
organize and move around in the room, but that’s not where the planning ends. A teacher
considers a lot of techniques as they develop a classroom management style.
1. How does the teacher establish a positive and inclusive classroom
environment? Can you describe the teacher’s approach to setting classroom
expectations and rules?
The teacher always make sure that the classroom together with its students has a
positive environment. She will ask the students how they are feeling or what they do.
When it comes to class discussion, she tries her best to make everyone participate. The
teacher uses respectful language and encourage students to share their ideas. She
recognize everyone’s’ ideas and her classroom are made comfortable for everyone.
2. How does the teacher handle disruptive behavior in the classroom? How
about conflicts or disagreements among students?
Whenever there are disruptive behavior inside the classroom, the first thing that the
teacher does was to tell them to stop. When a student did not stop, she will give them a
chance to stop or to leave the class. Whenever there are disagreements, the teacher
would give chance for everyone to talk one by one. By that, their concerns would be
addressed.
3. What steps does the teacher take to create a safe and respectful learning
environment for all students? What strategies does the teacher use to build
rapport with students?
The teacher creates a respectful learning environment through encouraging a positive
behavior towards everyone by praising and addressing a problem calmly. Rapport was
built by greeting her students warmly, using their names on recitations, listening to
their concerns, showing a genuine interest in their learning.
4. How does the teacher differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse
learners in the classroom? What strategies does the teacher use to promote
student engagement and participation?
The teacher differentiated instruction through using different teaching strategies to
address the students different learning ability. Just like what my cooperating teacher
did, on star section, she uses groupings because they adapt easily on the given task.
When it comes to normal section, she will have a discussion first, then she will teach
them on problem-solving. To promote student engagement and participation, the
teacher uses interactive activities, ask open-ended questions, encourage
collaboration and provides feedback to ensure all students feel motivated, involved
and valued.

Write a short reflection about the relevance of having a classroom management
style as a teacher.
Having a clear classroom management is very important for a teacher because it creates
a structured, respectful and supportive learning environment where students will feel
motivated to learn. Effective classroom management helps lessen the disruption and give
more time on something more important. It will also reflect on the attitude of the teacher
on how professional and how a teacher guides her students.
