1. Where is Jebel Faya? What is the importance of this place?
Ans:
Jebel Faya is a limestone mountain outlier in the Central Region of
the Emirate of Sharjah, UAE. From this place, stone tools from 125,000
years ago have been discovered. The objects show us that Stone Age
people lived in this area.

2. What is the difference between history and pre-history?


ANS:
The main difference between history and prehistory is the existence of
records; history is the recorded events of the past whereas Prehistory is
the time before writing was introduced. Therefore, it is clear that
prehistory, as the name suggests, is the period before history.

3. Which are the three Stone Age periods? Why the period is called the
Stone Age?
ANS:
The Stone Age is separated into three main periods: Paleolithic,
Mesolithic, and Neolithic. The period up to 10,000 BCE is the Paleolithic
period or the Old Stone Age. Mesolithic means middle Stone Age and
lasted from about 10,000 BCE to about 8,000 BCE. People were still
nomadic in the Mesolithic period but used dogs for hunting. The Neolithic
period is referred to as the New Stone Age and lasted from about 8,000
BCE up to 4,000 BCE. During the Neolithic period, people started to settle
in one place. They began farming and raising animals.
This period is known as the Stone Age because people learned to use
stone tools to hunt animals and collect plants for food.
4. Who are known as archaeologists? What is the difference between an
archaeologist and a historian?
ANS:
People who study early human history are called archaeologists.
The key difference between a historian and an archaeologist is that a
historian studies the past through written records, whereas an
archaeologist studies the past through excavation.

5. Think and write about 5 differences between the life of the Stone Age and
our lives today regarding food habits, dressing style, home, art and
occupation.
