Assignment-2
Date of Notification: 8/11/2024 Date of submission: 12/11/2024
Instructions: Total Marks: 10
The assignment consists of FIVE questions. Each question carries equal marks.
The assignment is to be submitted on the due date only.
Assignment should be written on the A4 pages with the first page dedicated only for
student’s details such as assignment no, subject, students name, roll number, section, etc.
Symbols and abbreviations have their usual meaning.
1 a) For the circuit as shown in Figure 1,
VCC=5V, RB=430k, RC=2.5k. Determine
the quiescent point for β=100, 150, and
200.

b) Why hybrid model is used for the analysis of BJT amplifier at low frequencies?
Draw the simplified hybrid model for CC transistor configuration and derive its
voltage gain, current gain, input and output impedances.
2 For the circuit shown in Figure 2, RC =
2.7KΩ,RE=1.2KΩ, R2= 8.2 KΩ, Vc=
10.6 V, IB = 20 μA, β=[Link] the
circuit using simplified hybrid model to
findout the voltage gain, current gain,
and input impedance of the amplifier.
Assume hie =1 KΩ, hfe= 50. Plot the
output waveform of the output voltage
for Vi = 0.005 sin 100πt.

3 a) What are the advantages of active filter over passive filter? Design a Butterworth
first order filter, having a cut off frequency 820 Hz, which will be able to filter out
the high frequency noise.
b) Design a circuit using JFET to get unity voltage gain. Mention its significance and
applications. Derive its input and output impedances using small signal model.
4 a) List characteristics of an ideal opamp? Draw its schematic symbol with proper
indication of quantities and write its characteristic equation.
Define following parameters of opamp:
Input offset voltage, unity gain bandwidth, slew rate, CMRR.
b) With necessary circuit diagram and derivations, explain how instrumentation
amplifier can be used as temperature indicator.
5 a) Design a non-inverting amplifier circuit,
i) where the gain is 20.
ii) where the gain varies from 20dB to 40dB
b) In the circuit shown in
figure 5(b), the op-amps
are ideal. Find out the
output voltage Vout?

c) Identify the type of filter circuit
shown in the figure 5(c) and find
out its cut-off frequency.
