AI-Powered Job & Internship Web Portal
Hackathon Problem Statement
Overview
Finding the right job or internship is increasingly complex due to information overload, irrelevant job
listings, poor personalization, and lack of structured career guidance. Existing platforms often present
identical dashboards and recommendations to all users, failing to account for differences in career
stage, experience level, skills, and professional goals.
This hackathon challenges participants to design and build an AI-powered Job & Internship Web Portal
that dynamically adapts its interface, recommendations, and guidance based on the user’s
role—Student, Fresher, or Professional—while delivering meaningful, personalized career assistance.
Objective
Within 36 hours, design and develop a responsive and scalable web portal that:
• Adapts dashboard layout, features, and content based on user role
• Uses AI to intelligently recommend jobs, internships, skills, and learning paths
• Analyzes resumes and provides actionable improvement suggestions
• Delivers smart, personalized notifications with minimal noise
Key Features & Functional Requirements
1. Role-Based Adaptive Dashboard
The platform must automatically adjust its UI, feature set, and content based on the user’s selected role.
Users should be able to switch roles, with the system adapting accordingly without data loss.
Student Dashboard:
• Internship-focused opportunities with filters for duration, stipend, and skill requirements
• Structured skill-building roadmap aligned with career interests
• AI-recommended courses, certifications, and beginner-friendly projects
Fresher Dashboard:
• Entry-level job recommendations based on academic background and skills
• Resume scoring with clear improvement checkpoints
• Mock interview preparation suggestions and role-specific interview tips
Professional Dashboard:
• Mid-level and senior-level job alerts aligned with experience
• Skill gap analysis compared against target roles
• Career growth, promotion, and role-switch recommendations
2. AI Job & Internship Recommendation System
The recommendation engine should intelligently match opportunities using a combination of structured
and unstructured data, including:
• Declared skills and experience level
• Resume content and extracted keywords
• Search behavior, saved jobs, and application history
• Explicit career goals and preferences
The system should handle edge cases such as incomplete profiles, career transitions, and users with
limited experience by providing exploratory recommendations and learning-first suggestions.
3. AI Resume Analyzer
Users can upload resumes in PDF or text format. The AI module should:
• Generate an overall resume score with explanation
• Identify missing or weak skills relative to target roles
• Suggest keyword optimization for ATS compatibility
• Provide role-specific and experience-level improvements
Edge cases such as unconventional career paths, academic gaps, or non-traditional resumes should be
handled gracefully with constructive feedback rather than penalization.
4. Smart Notification System
The notification system should prioritize relevance and user control, delivering alerts related to:
• New job and internship opportunities matching user profile
• Skill development and learning recommendations
• Resume updates, profile completion reminders, and interview preparation tips
Notification frequency and content should dynamically adapt based on user engagement to avoid
fatigue and over-notification.
Bonus Features (Optional)
• AI-powered career guidance chatbot
• Salary range prediction based on role, location, and skills
• Interview preparation assistant with behavioral and technical focus
• Automatic light/dark mode based on usage time or system preference
