Interview Story – Summer Research Intern (IIT Mandi)

During my summer research internship at IIT Mandi, I worked on advanced composite structures,
which are important in aerospace and automotive applications. My goal was to improve how these
materials handle vibration, bending, and overall efficiency.

To do this, I used DIGIMAT to simulate the materials at a microscopic level. I experimented with
different fiber orientations and volume fractions to find the right balance between performance,
weight, and durability.

Through this, I learned how small changes in design can have a big impact on overall results. It also
taught me to analyze data carefully, make decisions based on evidence, and continuously optimize
solutions.

Interview Story – STEP Intern (Quality Coordinator Role)

During my STEP internship at Maruti Suzuki, I worked as a Quality Coordinator, where my main goal
was to support process quality and ensure smooth shop-floor operations.

One challenge I faced was that many process documents were outdated and confusing for
operators. I streamlined them into clear flowcharts with step-by-step instructions and assigned
responsibilities for each activity. This reduced confusion and made it easier for teams to know who
was accountable at every stage.

I also standardized work instructions across different stations to reduce inconsistencies and small
quality defects. Another key part of my work was helping digitalize jig inspections and linking them
to the ERP system. This cut down manual effort and made inspection data immediately available for
decision-making.

Through this internship, I learned the importance of process discipline, standardization, and using
data to make informed decisions

Interview Story – Extra-Curricular & Achievements

Apart from academics and projects, I’ve been actively involved in extra-curricular activities. I worked as Sub-
Head in the Organizing Committee for the Athletics Meet and Inter-Tech Sports, where I coordinated events,
managed logistics, and created schedules. This taught me a lot about teamwork and leadership.

I was also part of the Executive Board of the Student Counselling Cell, helping organize talks on mental health
and motivation, which I believe are very important for student life. On the social side, I volunteered with the
NSS Club, teaching underprivileged children across different levels.

For these contributions, I received a Certificate of Appreciation and recognition for being part of the Organizing
Committee of the 75th Annual Athletic Meet. These experiences helped me develop leadership,
communication, and organizational skills, which complement my technical work and make me a well-rounded
candidate.
