ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

It is our proud privilege and duty to acknowledge the kind of help and guidance received from
several people in preparation of this report. It would not have been possible to prepare this
report in this form without their valuable help, cooperation and guidance.

First and foremost, we wish to record our sincere gratitude to Management of this college and
to our beloved Dr. Anand Deshpande, Principal and Director, Angadi Institute of Technology
& Management, Belgaum for his constant support and encouragement and for making
available library and laboratory facilities.

Our sincere thanks to Prof. Sagar Birje, Head of Department, Artificial Intelligence and Data
Science Engineering, Angadi Institute of Technology & Management, Belgaum, for her
valuable suggestions and guidance throughout the period of this report.

We express our sincere gratitude to our guide, Prof. Dattatreya Choudhari , Department of
Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Engineering, Angadi Institute of Technology &
Management, Belgaum for guiding us in investigations for this project and in carrying out
experimental work. Our numerous discussions with him were extremely helpful. We hold him
in esteem for guidance, encouragement and inspiration received from him.

The mini-project on “Smart Plastic Identification and Its Recycling Application For Eco-
Bricks & Tiles” was very helpful to us in giving the necessary background information and
inspiration in choosing this topic for the project.

Our sincere thanks to Prof. Dattatreya Choudhari, Mini-Project Coordinator for having
supported the work related to this project. His contributions and technical support in preparing
this report are greatly acknowledged.

Last but not the least, we wish to thank our parents for financing our studies in this college as
well as for constantly encouraging us to learn engineering. Their personal sacrifice in
providing this opportunity to learn engineering is gratefully acknowledged.

ABSTRACT

Plant diseases are caused by pests, insects, and pathogens. These diseases reduce crop productivity if not
treated early. The proposed system helps by automatically monitoring crop fields using remote sensing
images. It can detect diseases in plants and alert the farmer in time. The main goal is to detect diseases
early, when they first appear on leaf surfaces.
The system works in two phases:
Training phase: Collect images of healthy and diseased leaves to teach the system.
Detection phase: In real-time, it uses CNN(convolutional neural network) to find structural changes in
Leaves and identify diseases.
