To begin, we will read the poem (The students will read the
titled “Chemical Choreography” poem below)
written by Christian Marcelo.
“Chemical Choreography”
by Christian Marcelo
I.
A chemical reaction, a process
so true,
Where atoms shift and form
something new.
Substances meet, they bond,
they break,
Creating new matter for science
to take!
II.
Its matter transforming, never
the same,
Changing its bonds, no longer
the same.
Reactants start, products
appear,
Mass stays the same—it's
always clear.
III.
Synthesis is when things
combine,
Elements and compounds Laptop,

Two or more substances merge point, Flat

Creating something new and
right.
IV.
Decomposition breaks things
down,
One substance split all around,
Complex compounds fall apart,
Simple pieces get their start.
V.
Single displacement takes the
stage,
One swaps out in a rapid
exchange,
Shifting spots with perfect flow,
In reactions that put on a show!
VI.
Double displacement makes
things new,
Ions trading, tried and true,
Switching partners in the dance,
Of chemical reaction's chance.

Fuel and oxygen take flight,

About it… screen
Photosynthesis is an example
of a synthesis reaction where
plants combine carbon
dioxide and water to produce
glucose and oxygen. The
Reactants are Carbon
dioxide (CO₂) and water
(H₂O) and the Products are
Glucose (C₆H₁₂O₆) and
oxygen (O₂).
It is the process by which
green plants, algae, and
some bacteria convert light
energy into chemical energy
