Tom Assignment II

The document is an assignment for the Department of Mechanical Engineering at SRI Vasavi Institute of Engineering & Technology for the academic year 2025-26. It includes two problems related to the theory of machines, focusing on the analysis of a toggle mechanism and a crank and slotted lever mechanism, requiring calculations of velocity, acceleration, and angular acceleration for various components. Specific dimensions and rotational speeds are provided for each mechanism to facilitate the calculations.

ASSIGNMENT II
THEORY OF MACHINES

[Link] the toggle mechanism shown in Figure, the slider D is constrained to move on a horizontal path. The
crank OA is rotating in the counter-clockwise direction at a speed of 180 r.p.m. increasing at the rate of 50
rad/s2. The dimensions of the various links are as follows:
OA = 180 mm ; CB = 240 mm ; AB = 360 mm ; and BD = 540 mm. For the given configuration, find
1. Velocity of slider D and angular velocity of BD, and
2. Acceleration of slider D and angular acceleration of BD.

2. A mechanism of a crank and slotted lever quick return motion is shown in Figure. If the crank rotates
counter clockwise at 120 r.p.m., determine for the configuration shown, the velocity and acceleration of
the ram D. Also determine the angular acceleration of the slotted lever. Crank, AB = 150 mm ; Slotted
arm, OC = 700 mm and link CD = 200 mm.
