The duel bot is a feature which allows you to let the computer play duels for you (mainly useful for
PvP). The duel bot is full blown Yu-Gi-Oh! AI logic and it currently supports playing the D.D. Dynamite
OTK deck (Banquet of Millions version), the Nurse Burn OTK or the Self-Burn FTK deck. You cannot
give the bot any other deck since it won’t play it. New decks are not easily implemented and
supported by the duel bot, so a new deck implementation will not happen without good reasons.
The duel bot is mainly intended for farming and completing missions, not for being a world class
competitive AI playing meta decks. Alternatively to using the duel bot AI for duelling normally, you
can run the duel bot with just passing turns mode by enabling the checkbox “Only Pass Turns”. The
latter is simpler/straight-forward since it supports virtually any deck (obviously), it can be used to
easily farm event duels with medals such as the Xyz event or Synchro event. For just passing turns,
it’s also recommended to not play any cards that can activate in the hand or graveyard (when
discarded). The duel bot works the same way in solo and PvP. However, for solo you can use

KONAMI’s auto dueling feature as well by ticking the option “Force Auto Dueling” in JMaster Duel
Bot.
How to use the duel bot?
Build a deck compatible with the duel bot in-game and choose to play with that deck. In JMaster
Duel Bot, tick the “Run Duel Bot” checkbox. You can tick this option any time the game is running
(e.g. before, during and after duels).
Note:
Pressing the space key is a “kill switch” for the duel bot in case it starts acting up in any way. This will
immediately disable the duel bot and you need to tick the checkbox again to use the duel bot again.
Also, in order to make the bot enter duels/navigate the main menu, the option “Run Bot” has to be
ticked. For a full “botting experience” both checkboxes are therefore necessary. This is done
separately because the duel bot is independent from the main menu image recognition bot.
How many gems can I earn?
This depends on the matchups and wins as well as how many ranks you might possibly climb.
Recently, Konami nerfed the gem income to 100 per day from drops. After this, you can only get a
maximum of 1 gem per additional win. On top of that, you might automatically complete daily
missions which can net you around 140 gems as well so you can realistically expect about 240 gems
per day. However, it can also be a lot more on newer accounts thanks to lifetime missions as seen in
this video: [Link]
Which cards/decks are supported?
The bot cannot play any random cards you put into your deck. Only the following list of cards is
supported. In rounded brackets the recommended amount of the specific card is provided. All non-

supported cards will be ignored by the bot (e.g. they will stay in your hand and will never be
activated/summoned/set).
D.D. Dynamite OTK bot
For the D.D. Dynamite bot, the following deck list is recommended:
Main deck:
• Pot of Duality (2x)
• Gold Moon Coin (2x)
• Trap Trick (3x)
• Upstart Goblin (3x)
• Card of Demise (3x)
• Banquet of Millions (3x)
• Into the Void (3x)
• Reload (3x)
• Cup of Ace (3x)
• Contract with Don Thousand (2x)
• Pot of Desires (1x)
• Lilith, Lady of Lament (3x)
• Performapal Popperup (3x)
• Magical Mallet (3x)
• D.D. Dynamite (3x)
-----------------------------------
40 cards
Additional supported cards:
• Toon Table of Contents (3x)
• Toon World (1x)
• Allure of Darkness (0x)
Note:
To play the Toon Table of Contents version of the deck, you can remove 3x Cup of Ace and 1x
Contract with Don Thousand/Pot of Desires for example. Again, you are free to combine the
supported cards in any quantity. However, the trap cards need to be played at 3x to avoid issues
with the bot’s logic.
Allure of Darkness can be played at 1x but generally Gold Moon Coin should be preferred since the
latter can be activated in more situations.
Extra deck:
• Any random 15 monsters
Nurse Burn OTK Bot
Due to the recent ban list (May 9th 2022) and the limitation of D.D. Dynamite to 2 copies per deck,
the D.D. Dynamite OTK deck has become much less reliable. For this reason, a 2nd duel bot has been
developed which is very similar to the D.D. Dynamite one. The obvious choice was the “Nurse Burn
OTK” deck since it’s easy to play, powerful and similar to the D.D. Dynamite burn OTK deck. Some
players even reached Diamond TIER 1 with Nurse Burn.

Additional supported cards
You can use any of the following cards as replacements for cards in the deck list above. For example,
it’s popular to replace expensive cards like Upstart Goblin since they may use too much UR craft
material.
• Metal Reflect Slime
• Zoma the Spirit
• Tremendous Fire
• Ring of Destruction
• Secret Barrel
• Dark Cure
• Blazing Mirror Force
• Dynatherium *
• Gilasaurus *
Note that all cards marked with a star (*) are intended to be used for farming special summons and
special summon missions (e.g. for Link and Xyz summons). Continue reading to learn about the extra
deck monsters you can run in this context below.
Future Supported Decks
In the future, more decks and cards might be supported. Those might include Exodia FTK, Ignite FTK
and so on. Generally, all decks that are easy and non-interactive to play and with decent win rates
are good targets for bot decks. Interaction is difficult to get right with a bot so it’s not preferred to
implement “interactive” decks.
What’s the win rate of the duel bot?
This is another question which depends.
The overall win rate is about 40%. After all, a bot deck is generally is not as smart human player in
certain scenarios. However, I’m constantly working to make the bot more effective and stable when
I recognize deficits. Depending on your way of configuring the bot’s duel bot settings you may be
able to do a lot better or worse in terms of win rate. To counter the D.D. Dynamite bot, many players
caught on to the “13-card extra deck” trick to avoid losing to the OTK so avoiding those matchups
specifically is useful. Against the Nurse Burn OTK deck, there is hardly any easy counter. Not playing
an extra deck is once again beneficial since “Tri-And-Guess” is a card which will not work without
both players having an extra deck. Due to the recent patch/update of Master Duel (02/20/2023),
using the duel bot now makes it far less likely to climb in ranks since you will now get a loss when
the duel crashes with “connection failed” or similar errors caused by the duel bot. This sadly
significantly lowers the win rate.
Recommended Duel Settings
The following duel settings are recommended to be used to prevent issues with the bot.

Most importantly, you need to set the following:
• “Self Chain” set to “Auto”:
Not doing so might cause the bot to get stuck on cards like “Reload” or “Cybernetic Fusion
Support” since the game will prompt quick-play spells for an activation based on your own
actions.
• Card Position set to “Manual”:
This option set to “Manual” allows all cards to work properly, however, placing cards like
with “Trap Trick” can still get stuck. This is more of a bot bug if it happens.
For example, setting “Card Position” to “Auto” will cause cards like “Pot of Duality” or
“Banishment of the Darklords” to often cause a “Connection failed” loss, so it seems to be
better to run this setting with “Manual”.
=> Note that the bot will now automatically use the “Manual” mode, no matter how you
configured the setting.
The other settings can be configured however you like but setting “Activation Order Settings” to
“Off” will for example speed up your end phase by not having to cancel selecting the order of “Card
of Demise” and “Into the Void”.
Self-Burn FTK
The self-burn FTK deck is a deck which has the goal of burning yourself with effect damage to lose
the duel as quickly as possible. The advantage of this bot is that the deck is very cheap to build (e.g.
you don’t need any URs), also you can farm your duelist pass rewards fast and you can farm the
lifetime missions or event missions easily. The bot will complete missions regarding playing duels,
winning duels (yes, sometimes the bot also wins because some players disconnect, surrender or play
a self-burn deck themselves), activating cards in the graveyard (e.g. Giant Kozaky since he gets

destroyed and then in the graveyard resolves his effect to burn you for 2500 damage), dealing burn
damage to the opponent (e.g. Tremendous Fire), activating trap cards (e.g. Destruction of Destiny),
destroying your opponent’s monsters (e.g. with Ring of Destruction). Later I might add support for
e.g. Link summons or activating Monster Reborn/Raigeki for completing more missions (e.g.
summoning a monster from the graveyard and of course performing Link summons). You can watch
a video of the self-burn bot here: [Link]
Recommended mid-budget deck list:

(Remember, you can import this deck automatically via the “Import Saved MasterDuelMeta Deck”
button in JMaster Duel Bot at the “Duel Spoofer” tab:
[Link] then use the “Set Deck Builder Deck” button:
[Link]
Notes:
• The extra deck can be left empty because it’s not used but it can be filled when Link or Xyz
summons should be farmed (see the “Additional supported cards” section below). It’s
recommended to also use the suggested extra deck though.
• Certain useful self-burn cards might be banned for certain PvP events like the Link
Regulation one so you just have to take them out, replace them with e.g. Hieroglyph
Lithograph or other supported cards and run the rest of the deck normally. An event farming
video can be seen here: [Link]
• If you’re willing to spend precious UR materials, you can also craft up to 3x Into the Void and
3x Upstart Goblin and add them to the deck (or, if you own them already, feel free to use
them). This will make the deck more consistent.
Cheapest Self Burn Deck List
Since it makes sense to make a cheap self-burn deck list to farm all missions, events and so on, I
decided to make one. You can check out the deck list here:
[Link]
Also a YouTube video can be watched about it here:

Additional Supported Cards
Many people don’t understand that the bot still works fine if you exchange some of the cards. You
are not forced to run exactly this build but usually the bot is tested the most on the recommended
build(s) so you might run into less bugs by using exactly what’s shown here.
• Metal Reflect Slime
• Zoma the Spirit
• Upstart Goblin
• Into the Void
• Super Koi Koi
• Granadora
• Dynatherium
• Gilasaurus
• Jar of Greed
• Blazing Mirror Force
7

• Skull Invitation
• Forbidden Dark Contract with the Swamp King
• Dark Contract with the Entities
• Dark Contract with the Gate
• Dark Contract with Errors
• Dark Contract with the Eternal Darkness
• Dice Jar
• Self-Destruct Ant
• Dark Resonator *
• Jutte Fighter *
• Dynatherium *
• Gilasaurus *
All cards marked with a star (*) are only used for farming special summon missions such as Synchro
summons, Link summons and Xyz summons. Some other cards in the list are also intended as
replacements for certain event restrictions. It’s preferrable to run a self burn deck in events to be
able to complete the respective event fast. The self burn deck is simple and cheap to build, with
small adjustments it will be usable for many different types of ban lists. Continue reading to learn
about the extra deck monsters you can run in this context below.
For updates on specific event deck lists, consider following the Discord server’s #announcements
channel: [Link]
Double Burn
Double Burn is a new duel bot type which will play a burn deck that burns both players but the
opponent more so that you can win plenty of matches. It’s similar to self burn but it does not try to
lose.
The recommended deck list is:
[Link]
Additional Supported Cards
As learned earlier, we can replace certain cards and run different ratios of certain cards to customize
the deck. The duel bot will still be able to handle it correctly. In addition to the above deck list, you
may also run the following cards.
• Dimension Wall
• Trap Hole of Spikes
Further Deck/Card Proposals
Laur has been actively working to suggest more cards and tactics for the bot which is summarized on
his website: [Link]
d275fb67eaa7427694de3087fd1bec75
Note that not all cards/deck lists mentioned are supported yet but might be in the future. This is just
a collection of ideas which may be useful to have for the bot.
Configuring the Duel Bot
In JMaster Duel Bot you can configure the way the duel bot works on the Settings tab.
8
Duel Bot Tutorial (JMaster Duel Bot) © BullyWiiPlaza 2022 - 2025 Last updated: 01/10/2025
• Run Bot Stuck Restart Handler: This function instructs the bot to restart the game when the
current screen hasn’t changed in a while.
• Bot Thread Count: This only affects the number of threads used for image template
searching by the “Run Bot” feature (and not the “Run Duel Bot” feature). It’s useful to
reduce or increase CPU usage. Typically using your PC’s number of cores as the thread count
or a slightly higher thread count is recommended.
• Preferred Turn Order: At the start of PvP duels, if you win the coin toss, you can choose to
go first or go second. With this option you can tell the bot which option to choose. For the
D.D. Dynamite duel bot it’s recommended to configure this option to “Going First”.
• Duel Bot Type: This allows you to specify which duel bot AI you want to use. Make sure that
the deck you’re running is compatible and that you’re running the correct duel bot type with
it to avoid issues such as the bot getting stuck or not playing your cards. Currently you can
choose “D.D. Dynamite” and “Nurse Burn”. Check out the sections above for detailed
information on both of them. By default, the “Nurse Burn” duel bot type is now selected.
Due to a recent bot update the duel bot type is now automatically detected which should
work well for the recognized bot decks. You probably don’t need to touch this setting
anymore, unless you still have significant bot issues (e.g. certain cards are not used at all or
the bot follows a totally wrong strategy).
• Default Tri-and-Guess Selection: This is the default choice the “Tri-and-Guess” card will
make when picking either Fusion, Synchro or Xyz. The default is currently “Fusion” since
most decks probably play a Fusion monster such as “Destiny HERO – Destroyer Phoenix
Enforcer” since that’s a very popular card which can be ran in almost any deck thanks to
“Fusion Destiny”. Note that the bot will also “learn” and make a different choice based on
the opponent’s cards that have been played. If e.g. an Xyz monster was summoned, the bot
will then guess “Xyz” for “Tri-and-Guess”. Also, after resolving 1 “Tri-and-Guess”, the bot will
remember the entire extra deck so it can correctly guess the 2nd or 3rd time it activates “Tri-
and-Guess”.
• Surrender when Opponent’s Extra Deck <= 13 Cards: Makes the bot surrender (and
invalidate) the duel if the opponent has 13 or less cards in the extra deck. The D.D. Dynamite
bot is currently not programmed to resolve more than 2 D.D. Dynamites so it’s very unlikely
you can win with an opponent’s extra deck size of 13 or below (13 extra deck cards * 300
9
Duel Bot Tutorial (JMaster Duel Bot) © BullyWiiPlaza 2022 - 2025 Last updated: 01/10/2025
damage per banished card * 2 D.D. Dynamites = 7800 damage). When not using the D.D.
Dynamite bot, this option is probably useless to enable.
• Surrender when Opponent Goes First: You can make the bot surrender if you go 2nd. This is
useful to avoid wasting botting time on players who do a long 1st turn setup and because
players will probably summon a few times from the extra deck rendering e.g. the D.D.
Dynamite OTK useless as soon as it’s turn 2.
• Use Turn-Based Bot Surrender Logic: This option instructs the bot to surrender (and
invalidate) the current duel. It will trigger based on the specified conditions below.
o Maximum Turn Time: If this turn time is exceeded, the bot surrenders.
o Maximum Turn Number: If this turn number is exceeded, the bot surrenders.
Another useful option to always enable would be “PvP Disable Idle Surrender” on the “Cheats” tab. I
observed some idle surrender losses if I didn’t enable this option since the bot’s plays may not be
considered as human input by the game’s (client-sided) idle checker. However, when enabling “Run
Bot” this option should be ticked by default so you don’t have to worry about it every time. (This
option is enabled by default these days since there’s no reason not to use it.) Also, if you want to
easily reach Diamond TIER 1, climb in ranks and/or build up big win streaks, enable the “Invalidate
Losses” checkbox. This cheat allows you to cause all losses to not count against your win streak (you
also don’t get a matchmaking result and you don’t get any reward(s)):
Recommended Duel Bot Settings
• Disable “Run Bot Restart Handler”
• Leave the “Bot Thread Count” at its default value
(You can reset it by closing the bot, deleting the line containing BOT_THREAD_COUNT in the
[Link] file which resides in the root directory of the JMaster Duel [Link]
launcher and restarting the bot again)
• Set “Preferred Turn Order” to “Going First”
• Enable “PvP Disable Idle Surrender”
D.D. Dynamite bot
• Set the “Duel Bot Type” to “D.D. Dynamite”
• Enable “Surrender when Opponent’s Extra Deck <= 13 Cards”
• Enable “Use Turn-Based Bot Surrender Logic”
10

These settings may help you minimize losses and wasting time. Feel free to experiment with the bot
settings yourself and find what works best for you. I may not have enough testing and example data
to provide definite and optimized settings.
Completing Xyz, Special Summon + Link Summon Missions
Some missions in-game such as daily missions require you to special summon monsters, Xyz
summon monsters or Link summon monsters:
If you also want to complete those missions automatically with the duel bot, you can add “free”
special summon monsters to your duel bot deck (e.g. to the self burn or nurse burn decks). By
default, the nurse burn deck has no special summons. The supported “free” special summon
monsters are “Gilasaurus” and “Dynatherium”, which are both SRs. Furthermore, you can add “Jutte
Fighter” and “Dark Resonator” for the self burn deck.
Next, you would also add certain Xyz, Synchro or Link monsters to your deck, such as “Submersible
Carrier Aero Shark” (Xyz rank 3), “Progleo”/”Reprodocus” (Link rating 2), “Gem Knight
Pearl”/“Photon Papilloperative” (Xyz rank 4), “Gaia Knight, the Force of Earth” (Synchro level 6),
“Assault Blackwing - Chidori the Rain Sprinkling” (Synchro level 7), “Judgment, the Dragon of
Heaven” (Synchro level 8). Note that those monsters can all be summoned with only 2 materials.
This is the pretty much the lowest possible number of materials we can use (e.g., there doesn’t seem
to be a Link monster which can be summoned off a single “Gilasaurus” or “Dynatherium”). An
example video can be seen here: [Link]
I specifically chose monsters which are all below SR rarity so you can easily craft them. Do not play
extra deck monsters which have trigger effects or any kind of interaction where you or the bot
would have to make a choice since that isn’t supported by default unless the bot is specifically
programmed to support it which it is not unless specified explicitly.
11
Duel Bot Tutorial (JMaster Duel Bot) © BullyWiiPlaza 2022 - 2025 Last updated: 01/10/2025
Also note that Xyz and Link summons are not meant to be “good” or “win you more duels” with the
bot but to complete more missions automatically and earn you more gems passively this way. Also
consider to have notification turned on in the Discord server’s #announcements channel to learn
about potential updates for automatically completing missions with the duel bot.
Can you support all cards and decks or integrate ChatGPT as the Duel AI?
This bot is not “hyper competitive” and that will never be the goal for it. Programming over 10,000
cards including their interactions is near impossible. I don’t know why people think it can be done
with a few clicks or whatever.
If you want to do well, play manually, you won’t ever find a bot or AI playing better than a good
human in general, there isn’t an exceptional Yu-Gi-Oh! AI anywhere (not in EDOPro, not in any
KONAMI game etc.). ChatGPT ([Link] also can’t change that, this AI makes
horrendous mistakes on very simple board setups such as trying to Raigeki a Silent Magician LV8.
ChatGPT is also slow to respond which would make decisions in duels very delayed compared to the
bot right now. Yes, using the “plus” version (paid plan) might help with speed and accuracy but in
general ChatGPT is obviously not trained to play Yu-Gi-Oh! so it would require a significant effort to
train it for Yu-Gi-Oh!, let’s see what ChatGPT says about using its AI for playing the game:
12
Duel Bot Tutorial (JMaster Duel Bot) © BullyWiiPlaza 2022 - 2025 Last updated: 01/10/2025
So, as we just learned, using ChatGPT is barely better than doing all the machine learning effort from
scratch, therefore that’s highly unrealistic to be expected from a hobby developer such as myself.
However, we will keep an eye on the AI situation. Maybe something great will come up in the near
future but I doubt it. You would need millions of dollars in funding to maybe make something semi
viable that even KONAMI, a multi billion dollar company, isn’t willing to do, despite the fact that they
made around 130 million dollars in 2022 from Master Duel alone1.
Their AI for solo or in Duel Links is often times so comically bad, they used the same engine/code for
their games for about 20 years. They really don’t even care and it’s seemingly not profitable for
them to make a good AI, either and who even cares. Most customers don’t want to pay extra for a
good AI. And in general, if you’re never going to play the game yourself, what’s the point of even
playing? My bot’s AI is great for farming at least.
People always think everything is so easy to do but it’s mostly not, so keep it real and don’t expect
something like that from a “simple” and easy to afford/free hobby app as this one.
Leveraging a Community Simulator
The most realistic way of making a better duel bot would be to leverage a community simulator like
EDOPro2 since there are plenty of AI scripts for it. None are “perfect” though, nor are all decks
supports. However, connecting EDOPro to Master Duel and making the commands/APIs compatible
could be a significant challenge. Hence, this has not been attempted yet either but it is likely
possible.

Diagnosing Duel Bot Issues
Note:
Make sure “Reveal Cards” is turned off since it can confuse the bot regarding cards which are
facedown or faceup.
If you run into issues with the bot, e.g. it gets stuck or it plays very dumb, consider recording a duel
replay or a screen cast and send it to me. Also feel free to suggest smarter plays by the bot which
can be taught to the bot in a generic way (e.g. if card X is on the field, do Y instead of Z). You can also
read the bot log file which will be called “[Link]” and it is stored in the Master Duel installation
directory:
You can navigate to your Master Duel installation directory easily be clicking the “Open Directory”
button on the Settings tab in JMaster Duel Bot:
14
Duel Bot Tutorial (JMaster Duel Bot) © BullyWiiPlaza 2022 - 2025 Last updated: 01/10/2025
The log files ending in a number dot log are older log files. Once the log file hit a certain size (e.g.
10MB) the bot will begin a new log file. The latest one will always be the log file with no number.
Log files can be viewed/opened with any text editor, I recommend using Notepad++:
[Link]
Note that the logs may not be very readable for you or may seem a bit cryptic. In the future the logs
might look better when I cleaned them up more. Most importantly the developer knows how to read
them and possibly find issues that way.
Regarding “No winner in X turns”, “An error occurred” or “connection failed” duel crashes
Sometimes duels crash with one of these types of error messages and the duel result is invalidated
(neither player gets a win or a loss) you getting a loss. It’s currently unclear how these error
messages are caused but it seems to happen a lot more likely when using the duel bot. If anyone is
able to do more testing or has some more detailed information regarding this, let me know. So far, I
think it’s related to sending too many duel commands or duel commands at the wrong time but it
only happens once in a while and seemingly not consistently on certain cards or effects. This makes
it much harder to develop a fix.
Deck Spoofer Deck/Play Testing
Another clever way to test the duel bot in solo is defining a deck with the deck spoofer tab in the
JMaster Duel Bot GUI and also enabling the “No Deck Shuffling” cheat (on the Cheats tab). This
makes duels deterministic and lets you draw the cards exactly in the same order as the deck spoofer
tab. This way duel bot issues can be highlighted the most effective way. A tutorial for the deck
spoofer can e.g. be found here: [Link]
Consider sending your deck spoofer JSON file for reproducing the problem in solo mode.
