Class: - XI Full Marks: - 60
Subject: - Mathematics Time: - 2Hrs.
The question paper consists of three sections A, B and C.
*Candidates are required to attempt all questions from Section-A and all questions
EITHER from Section-B OR Section-C.
Section-A: Internal choice has been provided in two questions of 4 marks, one
question of 6 marks.
Section-B: Internal choice has been provided in one question of 4 marks.
Section-C: Internal choice has been provided in one question of 4 marks.
All working, including rough work, should be done on the same sheet as, and
adjacent to the rest of the answer.
The intended marks for questions or part of questions are given in brackets [ ].
No need to copy the questions.
Section - A (50 Marks)

represent the following sets using Venn-Diagram:

If A = {1, 2, 3, 4, … … …, 17} and R is a relation on A defined by R= {(x, y):
3x−y = 0, x, y∈ A}, then write R in the roster form. Also, represent R by an
arrow diagram.

Show that the function f: N→N defined by f(x) = 2x −1 is one-one but not onto.

In the sub part (i) choose the correct option and in the sub part (ii) answer the

i) What is the perpendicular distance of the point P (6, 7, 8) from xy-plane?

ii) Find the centroid of the triangle, whose mid-points of the sides are (1, 2, −3) and
(3, 0, 1) and (−1, 1, −4).

(a) Using distance formula prove that following points are collinear:
A (1, −1, 3), B (2, −4, 5) and C (5, −13, 11) .
OR
(b) Find the coordinates of the points which trisect the segment AB, given that
A (2, 1, −3) and B (5, −8, 3).
Questions 16. [4]
Show that the triangle ABC with vertices A (0, 4, 1), B (2, 3, −1) and C (4, 5, 0)
is right angled.

(a) A test was given to 400 students of whom 150 were boys and the rest were girls.
The boys had an average score of 72 with S.D. 7, While the girls had an average
Score of 73 with S.D. 6.4. Find the mean and S.D. of the class as a whole.

(b) Calculate the interquartile range for the following data:
