Remember!
a) 1 day = 24 hours
b) 1 hour = 60 minutes
c) 1 minute = 60 seconds
d) 1 hour = 3600 seconds
e) 1 year = 12 months
= 365 days (non-leap year)
= 366 days (leap year)
= 52 weeks
f) 1 fortnight = 2 weeks (14 days)
g) 1 week = 7 days
h) Months with 30 days: April , June, September, November
i) Months with 31 Days : January, March, May, July, August, October, December
j) February = 28 Days (Non Leap Year); 29 Days (Leap Year)
CLOCK
a) A clock generally has 2 hands
b) The smaller hand indicates the hour.
c) The longer hand indicates minutes.
d) A clock has 12 main divisions which are marked 1 to 12. In between 2 consecutive divisions there are 5
sub-divisions. Each sub-division indicates one minute. So, in between 2 consecutive numbers, there are
5 minutes.
e) The hour hand takes 2 rotations in a day.
f) The minute hand takes 24 rotations in a day.
g) 60 minutes =1 hour Minute Hand
h) 30 minutes = half an hour
i) 15 minutes = quarter of an hour. Hour Hand
Telling Time
a) When the minute hand is at 12 it is Full hour/ O’ clock.
$ 4 o’ clock or 4:00

b) When the minute hand is at 3, it means 15 minutes have passed since that hour.
8:15 or 15 minutes past 8 or Quarter past 8
c) When the minute hand is at 6, it is half past the hour.
1:30 or half past 1 or 30 minutes past 1
d) When the minute hand is at 9, it means 15 minutes are LEFT for the clock to strike the NEXT hour.
6:45 or quarter to 7
Telling Time to 5 minutes
To tell the time to the exact 5 minutes, multiply the number to which the minute hand is pointing with 5.
