Operator pre-use checklist - This checklist intends to identify defects and safety hazards before operation. The main aim of this checklist inspection is to
ensure that your equipment is safe prior to each use. Note general vehicle condition. Clear away all collected debris. Check for mechanical damage
and loose or leaking components. If any item is damaged or not working properly, take this checklist and give/report to supervisor/safety in charge.
Before starting the engine, check for the following:
STATUS
VISUAL INSPECTION OK NO N/A REMARKS
Engine (check oil level/ filter & for leaks)
Air cleaner/filter (check indicator, clean or change )
Fuel filter (service when gauge indicates low pressure)
Engine belts (check for adjustment/wear)
Fuel tank (drain off moisture & sediment)
Hydraulic tank (check fluid level & for leaks)
Radiator (check coolant level & for leaks)
Tire tracks assemblies (condition)
Lubricate chassis (refer to lube chart as required)
After starting the engine, check the following:
STATUS
START-UP ITEMS OK NO N/A REMARKS
Engine (does it sound normal?)
Instruments (check for normal readings)
Controls (check for normal operation and correct function. Lift
and tilt functions must not operate with seat bar raised)
Exhaust system (check for leaks & excessive smoke)
Indicators and Lights – check for correct operations.
Horn / Back-up alarm – Check for proper function.

- Check for loose or broken parts, damaged operator
cab, instrument operation, loose wheel nuts, track
sprocket nuts, oil leaks, damaged or missing safety
signs (decals).
- Attachments/bucket – check condition
