INTRODUCTION TO TREASURY MANAGEMENT

Student Outcomes:

The student will be able to:


1. Define what is treasury Management
2. Understand what is a treasurer in an organization
3. List responsibilities as a treasurer in an organization.
4. Understand goal of managing the firm's liquidity and mitigating its
operational, financial and reputational risk.
5. Know the control function of the CFO, Vice-President / Director of
Finance or Treasurer, and is handled on a day-to-day basis by the
organization's treasury staff, controller, or comptroller

Pre-Activity for Experiential Learning

1. Discuss the definition and scope of treasury Management.


2. Create a list of responsibilities of a treasurer in an organization
3. Participate in discussion of the control of the CFO, Vice-President /
Director of Finance or Treasurer, and is handled on a day-to-day
basis by the organization's treasury staff, controller, or
comptroller
4. Discuss students' experiences with various aspects of treasury
management.
5. Discuss related vocabulary of the topics.

Experiential Activities to Support Acquisition of the Student Outcomes

1. Read and study classroom materials related to treasury


management.
2. Use the internet to search published articles and relevant
information on treasury management.
3. Read newspaper current articles and prepare clippings related
to information relevant to treasury management.
4. Visit local business and owners and interview them how they
apply treasury management in their operations.
5. Attendance monitoring during classroom discussion and lectures.
6. Provide classroom activities such as seat works, research and
case studies.
7. Provide classroom assignments that require research done in the
internet.

Capstone Experience

1. Undergoing quizzes to measure learning competency


2. Undergoing midterm examination to measure learning
competency for module #1.

ASSET AND LIABILITY MANAGEMENT

The student will be able to:


1. Know what is Asset and Liability Management (ALM) as a function
of treasury
2. Understand the importance of Asset and Liability Management
(ALM).
3. Enumerate the scope of the Asset and Liability Management.
4. Know the responsibility of ALM between the treasury and Chief
Financial Officer (CFO).
5. Understand a firm's cash inflows, outflows, concentration,
investment and funding activities.
6. Learn the asset liability management (ALM) management with the
risk of interest rate mismatch and liquidity.
7. Know all operational areas the guide to formal policy making of
Asset and Liability Management and what it must address.
8. Know and understand the core function of Asset and Liability
Management.

1. Discuss the Asset and Liability Management (ALM) as a function of


treasury and the importance as a treasury function.
