How to use: Do Q1-Q10 first, then check answers. Mark mistakes and redo after 1 day.

Quick Notes
For addition/subtraction: make denominators same, then add/subtract numerators.

For multiplication: multiply numerators and denominators, then reduce.

For division: multiply by the reciprocal. Keep track of the sign.

Attempt all 12 questions. For word problems, write the final fraction in lowest terms.

Q Practice (Show steps)

1. Add: 3/4 + (-5/6)

2. Subtract: -2/3 - 5/9

3. Simplify: ( -7/5 ) + ( 3/10 )

4. Multiply: (-4/7) × (21/10)

5. Divide: (5/6) ÷ (-10/9)

6. Find x: x + (-3/8) = 5/8

7. Find y: (-2/5) y = 6/25

8. Evaluate: (-1/2) × (-3/4) ÷ (3/8)

9. Word problem: A tank is 3/5 full. It uses 1/4 of the water. What fraction of the tank is used?

10. Word problem: You owe ■150. You pay 2/3 of it. How much is left as a fraction of ■150?

11. Compute: (2/3 - 5/6) + (1/2)

12. Compute: [(-5/9) ÷ (5/12)] × (-3/10)

Speed Tips
Reduce before multiplying: cancel common factors across numerator and denominator.

With negatives: odd number of negative signs gives a negative answer; even gives positive.
