Overall feedback
Candidate's approach to problems is very structured.
Candidate has excellent communication skills.
Candidate is receptive of the feedback provided to him during to interview.
Candidate has good knowledge of the web development.
Candidate lacks hands on experience but his overall understanding of the tech is very good.
1 JavaScript
JavaScript Fundamentals (7/10)
Strong knowledge of JavaScript Fundamentals
Good knowledge of JavaScript Fundamentals
Only theoretical knowledge of JavaScript Fundamentals with no practical experience
No knowledge of JavaScript Fundamentals
Strengths
Candidate has a good understanding of Javascript concepts such as Async/Await. The candidate
provided an elaborate description of the concepts and even explained the context behind supporting
concepts like promises.
The candidate wrote the client code for the user REST API in JavaScript, which is logically correct and
handled exceptions properly.
Areas of improvement
Candidate can learn more about generators. Candidate can spend more time using Javascript. Candidate
couldn't answer questions around generators.
Asynchronous Programming (8/10)
Strong knowledge of Asynchronous Programming
Good knowledge of Asynchronous Programming
Only theoretical knowledge of Asynchronous Programming with no practical experience
No knowledge of Asynchronous Programming
Strengths
Candidate wrote the client code for invoking the User management API which he designed at the
beginning of the interview. Candidate wrote the client code the the user rest api in javascript which is
logically correct and handled exceptions properly. Candidate leveraged async await methods to invoke
the backend rest api. Candidate also leveraged the Axios library for invoking backend api.
Areas of improvement
Candidate can learn more about the Javascript concepts and practise writing code in Javascript.
Candidate was not hands on in Javascript.
2 MongoDB
NoSQL Basics (8/10)
Strong knowledge of NoSQL Basics
Good knowledge of NoSQL Basics
Only theoretical knowledge of NoSQL Basics with no practical experience
No knowledge of NoSQL Basics
Strengths
Candidate provided an elaborate comparison between NoSQL (MongoDB) v/s RDBMS wrt to schema. He
was well aware about application aspects of RDBMS and NoSQL. He was of the opinion that Proof Of
Concepts can be implemented quickly through NoSQL Data stores. On asking probing questions, he was
able to provide the justifications as well.
Areas of improvement
Candidate can learn more about the MongoDB development specifically focusing on advance concepts
like Aggregation Framework, etc.
Document-oriented Database Design (8/10)
Strong knowledge of Document-oriented Database Design
Good knowledge of Document-oriented Database Design
Only theoretical knowledge of Document-oriented Database Design with no practical experience
No knowledge of Document-oriented Database Design
Strengths
Candidate was aware about the Document-Oriented Database concepts like how to the data is stored
and retrieved. Candidate was not aware about the term Journaling but was able to explain it right just by
building his understanding on the fly, by taking hints and building his answers on top of it.
Areas of improvement
Candidate can learn about DocumentDb concepts like journaling, consistency, scalability, partition-
tolerance, etc.
3 Node JS
Single Sign-On (SSO) (7/10)
Strong knowledge of Single Sign-On (SSO)
Good knowledge of Single Sign-On (SSO)
Weak knowledge of Single Sign-On (SSO)
No knowledge of Single Sign-On (SSO)
Strengths
Candidate explained the concept of Single Sing On by taking examples. Candidate also explained that
various Authentication Types can be used to support Single Sing On which is correct.
Areas of improvement
Candidate can learn more about various Authenticaiton and Authorization mechanisms for web services.
Candidate was able to explain concepts but he was not very confident on Single Sign on. He can explore
more on the internal functioning of SSO.
OAuth & JWT Implementation (6/10)
Strong knowledge of OAuth & JWT Implementation
Good knowledge of OAuth & JWT Implementation
Weak knowledge of OAuth & JWT Implementation
No knowledge of OAuth & JWT Implementation
Strengths
Candidate was able to explain the overall steps involved when it comes to leveraging the OAuth Protocol.
Candidate is also aware about leveraging the browser cookie for storing the session.
Areas of improvement
Candidate can explore more about the JWT token, how it is passed back to the server and how server
validates the JWT token from the Auth Provider Service. During the interview, candidate couldn't explain
the concept of JWT token.
4 Leadership and Engagement
High-Performance Team Building (8/10)
Strong knowledge of High-Performance Team Building
Good knowledge of High-Performance Team Building
Weak knowledge of High-Performance Team Building
No knowledge of High-Performance Team Building
Strengths
On asking the mechanisms/processes he uses to promote adoption of the coding and design best
practises, candidate answered that he leverages mechanisms like Slack channel, reaching out to
manager/CTO, etc. which works well.
Areas of improvement
Candidate can leverage data driven approach like quantifying the benefits/savings to back up the
adoption of best practises.
