D. Discussing New Plants are the other living things on earth.
Concept #1 They are numerous and they differ in
many ways.
Here are the different Parts of a Plants:
Roots- It anchor or hold the plant in
the soil. They have root hairs which
(The learners will listen the
absorb water with nutrients from the
discussion)
soil.
Trees and shrubs have roots that grow big
and strong. These kind of roots make up a
tap root system.
Pechay, kangkong, mustard and other
leafy vegetables have fibrous root system.
Stem- It holds the plant upright
above the ground. It also support
leaves.
Stems of some plants are hard, woody,
and they usually develop annual rings.
Big trees grow thick, brown barks on their
trunks. Fruit-bearing trees like mango,
santol, and atis have hard woody stems.
Shrubs and bushes like rose and San
Francisco also have woody stems.
Bamboo and coconut trees belong to the
grass family which have tall and slender
stems. Mosses and bermuda grass have
short and tiny stems which barely rise
from the ground.
Pechay has fleshy stem while kangkong
and celery have soft, hollow stem. Their
stems break easily as well.
Leaves- these are the parts that make
food for the plant. They contain
chlorophyll, the green-coloring
pigment. Needed by plants in the
process of photosynthesis.
Most leaves are green in color. San
Francisco and mayana leaves are green,
red, yellow, and even orange in color.
The margin is the edge of the leaf. There
are 4 basic types of margins: entire,
toothed, lobed, and parted. Gumamela
leaves have toothed margins.
Flowers- These are the most
attractive parts of plants. Insects such
as butterflies and bees suck nectar
from flowers.
Flowers differ in color, size shape, and
smell. Some flowers are big such as roses,
sunflowers, and carnations. Other flowers
are tiny such as violets and begonias.
Sampaguita, rose, and dama-de noche are
fragrant while katuray has undesirable
scent.
The number of petals differ as well. Some
flowers have even number of petals --2, 4,
6, and so on. Other flowers have odd
number of petals--3, 5, 7, and so on.
Fruits- It contain seeds of a plant.
These are usually the edible and most
delicious parts of a plant.
Fruits also differ in size, shape, color, and
taste. Strawberry, cherry, and calamansi
are small. Jackfruit, cocnut, and
watermelon are big. When ripe, some
fruits are sweet. Mango and tamarind
fruits can be sour when not fully ripe.
Fruits are rich in vitamins and minerals.
They are nutritious. Do you eat them?
E. Discussing New Class, I have here a short story. Who
Concept #2 wants to read the story?
Mac-mac was in the school
garden. He pulled one plant,
removed the roots, leaves and (The learners will listen the

parts, Worst of all, he threw it.
Is there love and appreciation
Class, if there were no plants, could we
live?
What will happen to us if there were no
plants on earth?
Who created plants?
What should we do with the plants around
us?
Very good! We should propagate and
conserve them.
F. Developing Mastery This time class, we will be having a group
(Application) activity. I will be dividing you into 2
groups. Let us count, 1, 2, 1, 2,…
Group 1: Label the parts of the plants,
choose your answer from the box.
Group 2: Name the parts of plants that
being described.
(Each member will collabora
