You are invited to tackle real-world challenges at the intersection of Geospatial Technology,
AI, Hardware, and Sustainability. This is more than a competition; it's a mission to create
tangible impact.
Are you ready to build the future?
The Challenge Arena:
The competition is divided into two thematic tracks. Choose your battlefield:
Track A: Geospatial Intelligence & Rural Development
Harness drones, AI, and maps to build smarter villages.
Track B: Sustainable Systems & Autonomous Tech
Engineer hardware and smart systems for a sustainable and secure future.
TRACK A: Geospatial Intelligence & Rural Development
Problem Statement 1: AI-Powered Feature Extraction from Drone Imagery
Mission: Become the cartographer of the future. Develop an AI model that acts like a
super-human analyst, automatically scanning drone images of villages and pinpointing
critical infrastructure with 95% precision.
Your Objectives:
1. Extract Key Features: Identify and classify:
Building Footprints (categorize rooftops as RCC, Tiled, Tin, or Others).
Road Networks
Water Bodies
Key Assets like Distribution Transformers, Overhead Tanks, and Wells.
2. Achieve High Precision: Target an accuracy of 95% in feature identification.
3. Build for Efficiency: Optimize the model for fast processing and easy deployment.
Input Data:
Drone imagery & feature datasets for 10 villages (for Training & Validation).
Drone imagery for 10 new villages (for final Testing).
Expected Deliverables:
A fully trained, optimized, and deployable AI model.
Complete documentation (architecture, training process, deployment guide).
A final report with accuracy metrics, results, and future recommendations.
Problem Statement 2: AI-Driven DTM Creation & Smart Drainage Design
Mission: Fight waterlogging with data! Use AI to create a perfect ground model (DTM) from
drone point clouds and design a drainage network that keeps villages dry.
Your Objectives:
1. Create an Accurate DTM: Use AI/ML to process raw point cloud data and generate a
high-quality Digital Terrain Model.
2. Model Water Flow: Delineate natural water paths and predict waterlogging hotspots.
3. Design Smart Drainage: Propose an optimized, resilient drainage network plan for
village areas.
Input Data:
Drone LiDAR/Photogrammetry Point Cloud data for 10 villages.
Expected Deliverables:
An automated AI/ML pipeline for DTM generation.
GIS-ready drainage network designs and parameters.
Full documentation and a final report with outcomes and validation.
Problem Statement 3: Offline Navigator for Rural Frontiers
Mission: No signal? No problem! Build a lightweight Android app that provides reliable,
turn-by-turn navigation in remote areas without needing an internet connection.
Your Objectives:
1. Enable True Offline Use: Store and render map tiles for selected regions on the device.
2. Build a Rural Router: Create a routing engine that finds the best paths for walking,
cycling, or motorbikes on rural trails.
3. Ensure Accuracy: Achieve a GPS location accuracy within 10 meters.
4. Design for Everyone: Create an intuitive UI that works smoothly on mid-range Android
phones.
Input Data:
OpenStreetMap data for 5-10 pilot villages.
Field-collected GPS traces for validation.
Expected Deliverables:
A fully functional Android application (APK).
Tools for packaging and updating offline map data.
Documentation and a final report with performance metrics and user feedback.
Problem Statement 4: Rainfall & Flood Visualization Dashboard
Mission: See the flood before it happens. Build an interactive web tool that combines rain
forecasts with terrain models to visualize flood risks, empowering villages to prepare.
Your Objectives:
1. Fuse Data Streams: Integrate historical/forecasted rainfall data with village maps and
terrain models (DEM/DTM).
2. Simulate Water Flow: Use hydrological models to visualize water accumulation and
inundation zones.
3. Classify Risk: Create dynamic flood risk maps (Low, Medium, High).
4. Make it Interactive: Build a timeline slider to simulate flood progression during a storm.
Input Data:
Historical rainfall data for a district.
DEM/DTM and village boundaries for 2-3 sample villages.
Expected Deliverables:
An interactive web-based dashboard for flood visualization.
A documented backend data processing pipeline.
A user guide and final methodology report.
Problem Statement 5: Solar Rooftop Potential Mapping
Mission: Turn every rooftop into a power plant. Create an AI tool that analyzes drone data
to find the best rooftops for solar panels and estimates their energy generation potential.
Your Objectives:
1. Assess Rooftop Suitability: Classify roofs (Excellent, Good, Poor) based on area,
orientation, and shading.
2. Calculate Energy Potential: Estimate installable capacity (kW) and annual generation
(kWh) for each building.
3. Create an Action Map: Generate a color-coded village map highlighting high-potential
buildings.
Input Data:
Building footprints (from PS1).
Drone orthophotos and 3D data for 5 villages.
Regional solar irradiance data.
Expected Deliverables:
A trained model for rooftop suitability classification.
A GIS layer with building-level solar potential attributes.
A visualization map and detailed methodology documentation.
Problem Statement 6: Land Record Digitization Assistant
Mission: Bridge the map and the record. Develop a tool that links spatial land parcel maps
with textual ownership data, flagging mismatches to clean up vital village records.
Your Objectives:
1. Build a Searchable Map Interface: Allow users to search by plot number or owner name
to locate parcels.
2. Automate Discrepancy Detection: Flag records where map data and textual data don't
match.
3. Enable Seamless Correction: Provide a safe editing interface for authorized users to
update records.
Input Data:
Spatial parcel maps with plot_id for 5 villages.
Textual land record data (CSV) with plot_id, owner_name, and area.
Expected Deliverables:
A functional web application with search, visualization, comparison, and edit tools.
A data schema/API documentation for integration.
A sample reconciliation report and a user guide for officials.
TRACK B: Sustainable Systems & Autonomous Tech
Problem Statement 7: The Phoenix Recycler - Closed-Loop 3D Printing System
Mission: Break the cycle of plastic waste in 3D printing! Design a compact, affordable
machine that resurrects failed prints and scraps (PLA/TPU) into fresh, high-quality filament,
creating a truly sustainable makerspace.
Your Objectives:
1. Reclaim Waste: Design a system that shreds, melts, and re-extudes waste 3D prints.
2. Ensure Quality: Produce filament with a precise diameter (± 0.05 mm) suitable for
reuse.
3. Master the Process: Incorporate controls for temperature and speed to handle different
plastics.
4. Prioritize Safety & Usability: Make it safe and simple enough for a community lab.
Expected Deliverables:
Comprehensive CAD models and a Bill of Materials (BOM).
System control architecture and logic diagrams.
A feasibility & testing plan with a proof-of-concept.
A final report covering design, cost, and a path to prototype.
Problem Statement 8: The Energy Sentinel - Adaptive Consumption Optimizer
Mission: Build a hardware guardian for your home's energy use. Prototype a smart device
that monitors power in real-time and automatically controls appliances to slash waste,
learning your habits to save energy without sacrifice.
Your Objectives:
1. Monitor in Real-Time: Accurately measure voltage, current, and power for connected
loads.
2. Learn and Adapt: Implement intelligent control logic based on usage patterns, budgets,
or sensors (e.g., occupancy).
3. Build Reliable & Safe Hardware: Design a safe AC circuit interface with proper isolation.
4. Keep the User in Control: Provide both a local interface (display) and a remote
dashboard.
Expected Deliverables:
A functional, enclosed hardware prototype controlling at least two AC loads.
Complete firmware and control software with a basic UI.
Circuit schematics, PCB layouts, and a detailed BOM.
A validation report showing quantifiable energy savings (~10-15%).
Problem Statement 9: The Autonomous Sentinel - Perimeter Patrol & Threat
Detection
Mission: Create the ultimate automated watchman. Design a system (drone or robot) that
autonomously patrols a perimeter, detects intrusions day or night, and sends instant alerts
—augmenting human security forces.
Your Objectives:
1. Patrol Autonomously: Navigate a pre-defined path with obstacle avoidance.
2. Detect with Certainty: Fuse data from multiple sensors (visual, thermal, LiDAR) to
detect humans/vehicles.
3. Operate Anytime: Ensure functionality in day, night, and mild weather conditions.
4. Alert in Real-Time: Transmit secure alerts with evidence (images, location) to a central
dashboard.
Expected Deliverables:
A complete hardware design spec and software architecture.
EITHER a detailed simulation OR a scaled-down physical prototype demonstrating core
functions.
A trained detection model and a functional monitoring dashboard.
A comprehensive report with test results and a roadmap to a field-ready product.
