1. Tell us about yourself.
Answer: Start with your name, hometown, education, and any relevant experience. Add 2–3 strengths and conclude
with why you are interested in banking.
2. Why do you want to join the banking sector?
Answer: Because banking offers stability, structured career growth, continuous learning in finance, and an
opportunity to contribute to economic development and public service.

3. What do you know about PSU banks?


Answer: Public Sector Banks are majority government-owned banks that operate under RBI regulations and play a
key role in financial inclusion, priority sector lending, and implementing government schemes.
4. Why do you want to join our bank?
Answer: Your bank has a strong reputation, wide reach, digital focus, and good work culture. I believe my values,
skills, and long-term goals align well with the opportunities your bank provides.

5. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?


Answer: I see myself as a competent officer who understands branch operations, handles important responsibilities,
contributes to business growth, and is ready for higher managerial roles.
6. What are your strengths and weaknesses?

Answer: Clear goals, responsibility, customer satisfaction, learning opportunities, and recognition from seniors
motivate me to continuously improve my performance.
10. Describe a situation where you had to work as part of a team.

■ Banking Awareness (11–20)

11. What are the functions of the RBI?


Answer: RBI regulates currency, controls monetary policy, supervises banks and NBFCs, manages foreign
exchange, acts as banker to government and banks, and maintains financial stability.
12. Explain the role of NABARD in PSUs.
Answer: NABARD is the apex development bank for agriculture and rural development. It refinances banks,

13. What is the difference between a scheduled and a non-scheduled bank?


Answer: Scheduled banks are listed in the Second Schedule of the RBI Act and are eligible for RBI facilities like

23. What is the current repo rate and reverse repo rate?
Answer: Mention that these are decided by the RBI’s Monetary Policy Committee and quote the prevailing rates as
on the interview date after checking the latest RBI announcement.
24. How has the COVID-19 pandemic impacted the banking sector?
Answer: It increased stress on asset quality, led to moratoriums and restructuring, accelerated digital adoption,
reduced physical branch visits, and made risk management and capital adequacy more important.

25. Explain the implications of the Digital India initiative on banking.

26. What is the current inflation rate in India?

Answer: Explain a real or hypothetical situation where you listened patiently, understood the issue, remained calm,
offered a solution or alternative, and ensured the customer felt heard and respected.
52. How would you handle a situation where you suspect fraudulent activity?
Answer: I would follow the bank’s guidelines: verify documents and transactions, inform my senior or branch
manager, report through proper channels, and, if required, temporarily freeze the account or transaction.

53. Describe a time when you went above and beyond for a customer.
Answer: Mention a case where you took extra effort—like staying beyond working hours or coordinating with other
departments—to resolve a problem or provide timely service to the customer.
54. How do you prioritize your tasks when you have multiple deadlines?
Answer: I list tasks, classify them as urgent and important, check dependencies, and complete high-impact tasks
first while ensuring that all deadlines are met with proper planning.

55. How would you handle a situation where you disagree with your manager?
Answer: I would respectfully share my views with facts and logic in private, but if the manager still disagrees, I would
follow instructions as long as they are ethical and as per bank policy.
56. Describe a situation where you had to make a quick decision.
Answer: Give an example where you assessed the situation quickly, considered available options, chose the most
suitable one, and the outcome was positive or produced learning for future.
57. How would you handle a situation where a team member is not contributing?
Answer: I would first talk to the team member to understand the reason, offer help or guidance, encourage
participation, and, if there is no improvement, inform the supervisor with facts.
