5. Write the quadratic polynomial whose zeroes are the smallest prime number and the smallest
composite number.
6. Find the nature of the roots of the quadratic equation x² − 9 = 0.
7. A kite is flying at a height of 100 m from the ground and the string makes an angle of 60° with the
horizontal. Draw a suitable figure.
8. Prove that in two concentric circles, a chord of the bigger circle which touches the smaller circle
is bisected at the point of contact.
9. Find the volume of the largest sphere that can be cut from a cube of edge 14 cm.
10. If A ⊂ B, draw the Venn diagram for A − B.

1. A car has wheels of diameter 80 cm. How many complete revolutions does each wheel make in
10 minutes if the car travels at a speed of 66 km/hr?
2. Prove that √2 + 2√3 is an irrational number.
3. Find the cubic polynomial whose zeroes are −2, 1, 3.
4. Write the formula for the median of grouped data and explain each term.
5. Find the value of (5sin²30° + cos²45° + 4tan²60°) / (2sin²30° + cos60° + tan45°).
6. Find the sum of all three-digit numbers which are divisible by 7.
7. Find the sum of the first 31 terms of an A.P. whose 11th term is 38 and 16th term is 74.
8. Two coins are tossed simultaneously. Find the probability of getting (i) two heads (ii) at least one
head (iii) no head.
9. Prove that √3 + √2 is an irrational number.
10. A solid metallic sphere of diameter 21 cm is melted and recast into smaller cones each of
diameter 7 cm and height 3 cm. Find the number of cones formed.
11. Find the zeroes of the quadratic polynomial p(x) = 5x² − 3x − 2 and verify the relationship
between zeroes and coefficients.
12. In a right-angled triangle, the hypotenuse is 10 cm more than the shortest side. If the third side
is 6 cm less than the hypotenuse, find the sides of the triangle.

6 Marks Questions
1. Draw a circle of radius 5 cm. From a point 9 cm away from its centre, construct a pair of tangents
to the circle.
2. Solve the system of equations graphically: 4x − 3y = −2 and 2x + 3y = 8.
3. Find the points of trisection of the line segment joining A(6, −2) and B(−8, 10).
4. A box contains cards numbered from 3 to 102. One card is selected at random. Find the
probability that it is (i) a perfect square (ii) a multiple of 3 (iii) a prime number (iv) a composite
number.
5. Show that the quadrilateral formed by the vertices A(4,5), B(7,6), C(4,3), D(1,2) is a rectangle.
6. Draw the graph of the polynomial p(x) = x² − x − 12 and find the zeroes from the graph.
7. Construct a triangle ABC with your own measurements and construct another triangle similar to it
whose sides are 3/2 of the corresponding sides of triangle ABC.
8. The mean of the following frequency distribution is 62.8 and the sum of frequencies is 50. Find
the missing frequencies f■ and f■.
9. The angle of elevation of the top of a building from the top of a tower is 30°. The angle of
elevation of the top of the tower from the foot of the building is 60°. If the height of the tower is 30 m,
find the height of the building.
10. If A = {x : x is a factor of 42} and B = {x : x is a factor of 54}, verify that n(A ∪ B) + n(A ∩ B) =
n(A) + n(B).
11. Prove that tan²A − tan²B = (sin²A − sin²B) / (cos²A cos²B).
12. A well of diameter 3 m is dug and the earth taken out is spread evenly all around it to a width of
4 m to form an embankment. Find the height of the embankment.
