1. What specific knowledge or skill did you apply in the service-learning
project?
I applied my communication and facilitation skills, particularly in explaining
lessons clearly to elementary pupils. I also used basic instructional
planning, classroom management, and teamwork skills to support teachers
and ensure activities were appropriate for the learners’ level.

2. Describe one meaningful moment you experienced while serving at


San Vicente Elementary School.
One meaningful moment was seeing students actively participate and show
improvement after guidance. Their enthusiasm and appreciation, even for
small efforts, made the experience fulfilling and reminded me of the impact
of simple support in education.

3. What challenges did you encounter, and how did you address them?
A major challenge was adjusting to the varied learning abilities of the
pupils. I addressed this by being patient, simplifying explanations, and
coordinating with teachers to better understand how to approach each
learner effectively.

4. What new insights did you gain about education and community
partnership?
I realized that education is most effective when schools and communities
work together. Community involvement strengthens learning outcomes and
helps address limitations in resources, showing that education is a shared
responsibility.

5. How did this activity shape your values and professional outlook as a
graduate student?
The activity strengthened my sense of social responsibility and service. It
made me more aware that, as a graduate student and future professional, I
should use my knowledge not only for career growth but also for community
development.

6. What recommendations would you make to improve or sustain the


service-learning initiative?
I recommend continuous collaboration between the school and the
institution, proper orientation for volunteers, and regular follow-up
activities. Providing learning materials and long-term programs can help
sustain the initiative.

7. What is your biggest personal and professional takeaway from this


experience?
My biggest takeaway is the importance of empathy and service.
Professionally, I learned the value of applying knowledge in real-world

settings, and personally, I realized that meaningful change starts with small
but sincere actions.
