Good morning, panelists. We are here to present our study.

This
is our team, and I am __________ together with Gale Bongayan,
Regine Berdan, Jasmine San Andres, Kristine Joy Oco, Rachelle
Anne Abechuela, Ericka Tayangona, and Randolf Robrigado

We would like to begin our presentation by showing you this video

clip.

In a fast-paced world of technology, artificial intelligence tools has

became enormous usage in the field of academia . With that
being said, our team have decided to explore this topic. And the
title of our research is this. Droid Writing: A Study on the Level of
Awareness of English students To Ai Tools and their Academic
Writing Performance

In the worlwide setting, According to Lui [Link], (2023) Chat gpt,

and other Artificial intelligence tools has earned a lot of interest
and its usage grows rapidly. These AI-driven tools offer potential
benefits for students, particularly in the realm of academic writing.
This study’s rationale stems from the recognition that this is timely
and relevant, colleges are gradually embracing AI technologies. In
a report by Ian Cruz on “24 Oras” last January 2023, some
students at the University of the Philippines Diliman (UP) are
allegedly using artificial intelligence (AI) such as Chat GPT to
fulfill their academic requirements. Furthermore, there is a limited
focus on student writing performance in our research locale in
which the researcher visited some university in our locality such
as (BISCAST, CBSUA PILI, NCF, and Raul S. Roco LIBRARY) ,
with most studies concentrating on reading comprehension.

Through addressing on this gap, we aim to provide insights and

solutions that could benefit the school, teacher, students, parents
and future researcher. It is also a stepping stone to guide English
Major Students of CBSUA-Pasacao campus, helping them to
maintain higher academic integrity by proposing a Guidelines to help
regulate the use of Ai tools in the academe through publishing a
podcast campaign on various media platform.
This study will be guided by the following objectives that will
be presented by Regine Berdan

Kakay
Jasmin- Methodology

Our research methodology involves collecting and analyzing data

via a survey questionnaire using Stratified Sampling Method. In
this method, the population of English major students divided into
subgroups such 1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year and 4th year. All of them
are the respondents in finding the level of awareness of AI tools.

1. The weighted mean was used to determine the level of awareness

of English students to AI tools at Central Bicol State University of
Agriculture along types, accessibility, and usage,
Subsequently, in the second part, the focus shifts to 120 selected
respondents. The researcher used Purposive Sampling method
(Judgement) by the help of rao soft calculator where 95% of the total
pupulation is 120.
60 students are utilizing AI tools and 60 students are uninformed. After
that, they wrote an essay and their academic writing performance
results based on the given rubrics was gathered, evaluated, and
interpreted.
Lastly, Pearson correlation Coefficient was used to measures linear
correlation of the significance of the relationship between two variables
such as level of awareness of English students to AI tools and their
academic writing performance. This tool quantifies two sets of data.
This analysis aims to determine whether there is a significant
relationship between the awareness of CBSUA Pasacao English
students regarding AI tools and their academic writing
performance

TYPES
As Marzuki, U. Widiati, D. Rusdin, Darwin & I. Indrawati (2023) revealed
in their study that AI tools such as Quillbot, Chat-GPT, and [Link]
were found to foster a robust learning atmosphere, enhancing
students' academic performance. Their findings distinctly indicate that
these tools play a crucial role in elevating students' overall academic
achievements while fostering a comprehensive learning environment.
The study highlights the positive impact these AI tools have on
students' academic progress and the establishment of a well-rounded
educational setting. Teachers play a pivotal role in assisting students in
honing their writing skills, ensuring the creation of well-structured
compositions by seamlessly integrating these tools into their teaching
methodologies. Nevertheless, it is imperative to closely supervise and
guide students to ensure a judicious balance between leveraging AI
tools and cultivating their independent critical thinking skills. This
approach facilitates a harmonious integration of technology into the
learning process while preserving the development of students'
individual cognitive abilities.
Furthermore, TAM posits that an individual's acceptance of technology
is influenced by perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. The
higher awareness levels of Quillbot and Grammarly, identified as the
top two tools, suggest that students perceive these tools as both useful
and easy to use. Quillbot and Grammarly's prominence aligns with
TAM's emphasis on perceived usefulness, indicating that students
recognize these tools as beneficial for improving their writing skills. It
may be attributed to their effectiveness in addressing common writing
challenges, such as paraphrasing and grammar correction. The ease
with which these tools are integrated into the writing process further
supports TAM, as users are more likely to adopt technologies that they
find easy and accessible to incorporate into their routine.
