Learners are different in terms of

nationality, and
culture.
This holds true in the Philippines where there

church, speaks a different language, or
behaves differently.
Everyday, they bring these diversity and

instruction and express knowledge.
Religion / Belief: students may follow different faiths or
hold different values, which can influence holidays, dress,
classroom participation, and sensitive topics.
Ethnicity / Nationality: background groups that shape
traditions, historical perspectives, and social norms.
Culture: the broad set of shared practices, norms, and
meanings (including food, family roles, communication
styles) that shape how learners behave and learn.
Ethno‑linguistic groups: groups defined by both
ethnicity and language (the passage mentions the
Philippines as an example with many such groups).
Pedagogical approaches: the teaching methods and
strategies a teacher uses.
Culturally relevant and responsive teaching: teaching
that connects learning to students’ cultural
backgrounds, validates their identities, and adapts
