MODULE FOR GROUP WORK PROGRAM WITH CHILDREN FROM BARANGAY
TANZA, MOLO, ILOILO CITY
NOVEMBER 22-23, 2025
A. BEGINNING PHASE
Session 1: Introduction to the Program/Activities and Getting to Know Each Other
Objectives:
At the end of the session, participants will be able to:
(For Children)
● Get familiar with the purpose and goals of the program/activities.
● Build a trusted space where individual thoughts are shared.
● They expressed themselves in creative ways.
Process/Flow of Activities
● Prayer
● Singing of the Philippine National Anthem
● Opening Remarks
● Short Discussion about Activities and Program
Ice breaker: Zumba
Purpose:
● To energize everyone prior to the main activity.
● Encourage a smooth start and interaction to help participants feel comfortable with each
other.
Procedure:
1. After the opening remarks, prayer, and brief discussion about the program, the group
worker shall call on the participants to join them for a Zumba dance.
2. The participants are highly encouraged to form three (3) lines, five (5) children per
column.
3. 2-3 songs will be played “Girl in the Mirror,” Bumble Bee,” and “Soda Pop”
4. The group workers will take the lead in front so participants can easily follow the steps.

Activity 1: “Craft Your Name”
Purpose:
● To let the children introduce themselves in a creative way.
● To encourage self-expression.
Materials:
-Cardboard/Chipboard
-Scissors
-Marker/Pencil
-Crayons

Procedure:
1. The group worker shall ready the materials that the participants are going to use in this
activity.
2. The participants will form a big circle so that the art materials will be placed in the
middle where everyone can easily reach their needs.
3. Cardboard/Chipboard will be cut by the group workers and give it to the participants to
ensure safety and equal distribution.
4. The participants will be given 15-20 minutes to finish their craft with enough time.
5. If done, participants will go back to their seats and wait for everyone to settle down
6. Group workers will call on participants randomly to introduce themselves.
Main Activity: “Brace-let’s Do It”
Purpose:
● To develop a sense of pride and purpose through crafts they made.
● To encourage self-expression through their style of creation.

-Beads

Procedure:
1. Children will form a circle to still encourage interaction while doing their own bracelets.
2. Materials will be placed in the middle so that children can freely get what they need.
3. However, to ensure equal distribution, facilitators will manage every item the children
get.
4. Facilitators will join the children in this activity to promote collaboration.
5. 15-20 minutes will be given to children to finish their creation.
Closing Activity: “My Favorite Part of the Activity is…”
Purpose:
● To know what part of activity suits their individual interests.
● To summarize activities through giving feedback.

-Manila Paper
-Marker/Pentle pen

Procedure:
1. Facilitators will wrap up session 1 by providing a manila paper where each part of the
activities in the program are written down.
2. Children will be given marker/pentle pen to check what’s their favorite activity.
3. If done, children are encouraged to say something why they liked the activity.
4. Facilitators will stand beside them to make sure that they feel accompanied while
speaking and not get embarrassed.
B. MIDDLE PHASE
Session 2: Developing Self-concept and Practicing the Art of Self-expression
Process/Flow of Activities

Check-up Activity: How are you?
Purpose:
● To explore emotions.
● Express oneself through drawing what you feel.
Procedure:
1. Participants will be asked how they are feeling in this part of the program.
2. A bond paper, crayons, and marker are going to be provided by the group workers.
3. 5-10 minutes will be given to them to do their work.
4. With these materials and estimated time, participants will definitely draw something that
could nearly show how they are feeling. (example: Emojis, slogan, quotes, etc.)
5. Participants will be called on individually, and share with the group his feelings.
6. There’s no need to go in front. Participants will stay in their respective seats while doing
this part of the activity.

Icebreaker: “Color Matching Game”
Purpose:
● To challenge children's alertness and energy since this program will be held in the
afternoon
● To encourage active thinking skills.
● To get familiar with the basic colors.
Procedure:
1. Facilitators will stick 4 colored papers on the ground (red, yellow, blue, and green)
2. Each color will have borders on the ground.
3. Children shall pay attention to what color the facilitators says (Ex. The facilitator will say
“go to color green!” then the children should jump to the color green.)
4. Facilitators randomly mention different colors, so children are expected to be alert.
5. Jumping on the wrong color means you are out.

Activity: “Think Outside a Box”
Purpose:
● To let children' s imagination complete the missing piece of an art.
● To promote self-expression and appreciate different perspectives.
Procedure:
1. Facilitators will give each child a printed copy of the activity.
2. Instructions are given in the activity, however facilitators will explain it again briefly so
everyone can get it.
3. Children will remain in their respective seats to make sure that they won’t copy what the
other one is making as this activity tests an individual's imagination.
4. 10-15 minutes will be given to accomplish this activity.
5. If done. Children will pass their work to the facilitators.

Main Activity: “This is me”
Purpose:
● Demonstrate appropriate and creative ways to express thoughts, feelings, and ideas
confidently.
● Exhibit a natural sense of expressing oneself.
Procedure:
1. Participants must listen to the instructions of the group workers.
2. Group workers shall provide the art materials and give it to each participant.
3. The activity will be done while staying still on respective seats.
4. For 10-15 minutes, participants will draw themselves and highlight the thing that they
love about them and what makes them different from others.
5. If finished, wait for others to do so.
6. Each participant will be called on to share what they draw about themselves.

Closing Activity: “You are YOU-nique”
Purpose:
● To let the participants exchange their drawings with each other and encourage them to
leave a positive message on it.
● To appreciate the uniqueness of each and everyone
● To practice giving positive comments and be the reason why people smile.
Procedure:
1. The artwork from the “This is Me” activity will be used in this part.
2. Participants will exchange their work with the people around the venue (Ex. Group
workers, other participants, and barangay workers)
3. A quote/phrase or a sentence can be written on someone’s work.
4. Group workers shall lookout for what the participants are writing to ensure that there are
no negative remarks or signs of bullying.
5. Practice mindfulness and be nice to everyone while doing this activity.

C. ENDING PHASE
Session 3: Closing Remarks, Reflection, and Sustaining Creativity

Purpose:

Ice breaker: “Face the Cookie”
Purpose:
● Provide hilarious entertainment for children in a while..
● Foster fun interaction and scenarios before proceeding to other activities.
Procedure:
1. Fifteen (15) children will be divided into three (groups).
2. Each group forms a line.
3. The first representative will be given a cookie
4. A cookie shall be placed from their forehead with their hands on the back after.
5. By using only their facial muscles, a cookie must move until it reaches their mouth.
6. The game goes on until not a single cookie falls.

Activity: “Inside My Heart” Art.
Purpose:
● To let the participant share what’s inside their hearts through art.
● Express ideas that sum up the things that they love.
Procedure:
1. For this main activity, participants will do this individually.
2. Each participant shall draw a big heart and fit in drawings or pictures of the things that
they love
3. After this part, everyone will cut out their heart-shaped drawing.
4. Then, group workers will let the participant plaster their work in a bigger heart that is
provided by them.
5. An illustration board/Manila Paper will be placed in front, and each participant will stick
their finished output.
6. Participants will tell in front why they love those things that they put in their hearts.

Closing: “ART-ily ever after”
Purpose:
● To add a unique, festive, and engaging element before the last session ends.
● To make it more exciting and memorable for the children and everyone who’s part of the
whole program.
Procedure:
1. Both children and group workers form a circle.
2. Painting materials are placed in the middle.
3. Each one will paint the palm of their hands.
4. If done, group workers will guide the children to stamp their palm in a manila paper and
write their name/signature under their printed palm.
5. Moreover, face painting (minimalist design only) will be optional to children.

Closing Activity: Mini Recognition
Purpose:
● To acknowledge the cooperation, dedication, and hard work of the participants and all
who help after the success of the three sessions program.

The winner/s in every activity will be given a prize and token of appreciation. Special awards
will also be given.

Each participant (children) will be given a certificate of participation for their presence and
dedication to complete the three sessions together with the social work students as group
workers.
3. Acknowledgment
The Barangay Kagawad and the SK will also be given certificates of appreciation to express
gratitude for letting us implement our program in their small, yet organized and ever active
barangay Tanza, Timawa, Iloilo City, Philippines.
Closing of the Session
Purpose:
● To properly and finally end the sessions/program that we had with the children of
Barangay Tanza, Timawa, Iloilo City, Philippines.

The representative of the group will close the program by giving a short message which includes
expressing both gratitude and having such a wonderful experience they had gone through in
implementing the program with the children of Tanza, Timawa. Also, including the people
behind the success of the whole three sessions.

final day will take a group photo together for documentation processes.
