Class 10 Maths Complete Notes

A complete formula and concept book containing: • Arithmetic Progression • Triangles • Areas Related
to Circles • Polynomials • Quadratic Equations • Trigonometry • Surface Areas & Volumes • Statistics &
Probability

Arithmetic Progression (AP)

Formulas:
• nth term: a■ = a + (n − 1)d
• Sum of n terms: S■ = n/2 [2a + (n − 1)d]
• S■ = n/2(a + l)

Key Points:
• AP has constant common difference.
• Graph of AP is a straight line.

Triangles
Key Theorems:
• BPT: AD/DB = AE/EC
• Pythagoras: a² + b² = c²
• Similar triangles: Ratios of sides equal

Area Ratio Theorem:

Area ratio = (side■ / side■)²

Areas Related to Circles

• Area = πr²
• Circumference = 2πr
• Sector area = (θ/360) × πr²
• Arc length = (θ/360) × 2πr
• Ring area = π(R² − r²)

Polynomials
• Zeroes of polynomial = Values where polynomial = 0
• Relationship for quadratic ax² + bx + c:
Sum of zeroes = −b/a
Product of zeroes = c/a

Quadratic Equations
Standard form: ax² + bx + c = 0

Roots:
x = (−b ± √(b² − 4ac)) / 2a

Discriminant:
D = b² − 4ac
• D > 0 → Real, distinct roots
• D = 0 → Real, equal roots
• D < 0 → No real roots

Trigonometry
Ratios:
• sinθ = Perpendicular / Hypotenuse
• cosθ = Base / Hypotenuse
• tanθ = sinθ/cosθ = Perpendicular/Base

Identities:
• sin²θ + cos²θ = 1
• 1 + tan²θ = sec²θ
• 1 + cot²θ = cosec²θ

Surface Areas & Volumes

Cube:
• TSA = 6a²
• Volume = a³

Cuboid:
• TSA = 2(lb + bh + hl)
• Volume = lbh

Cylinder:
• Curved area = 2πrh
• Total = 2πr(r + h)
• Volume = πr²h

Sphere:
• SA = 4πr²
• Volume = 4/3 πr³

Statistics
Mean:
• Ungrouped: Σx/n
• Grouped: x■ = Σfx / Σf

Median:
Median = l + ((n/2 − cf) / f)h

Mode:
Mode = l + ((f■ − f■)/(2f■ − f■ − f■))h

Relation:
Mode = 3 Median − 2 Mean

Probability
• P(E) = Favorable / Total outcomes
• 0 ≤ P(E) ≤ 1
• P(not E) = 1 − P(E)
