Chapter 2 - Biological Classification
Need for Classification
Classification makes the study of organisms easier and systematic.
Five Kingdom Classification
Proposed by R.H. Whittaker. The five kingdoms are Monera, Protista, Fungi, Plantae, and Animalia.
Viruses, Viroids, Lichens
Viruses are acellular and show both living and non-living characteristics. Viroids are infectious RNA
molecules. Lichens are symbiotic associations.
