1. Which technology of the past do you think had the most impact in the way
of life of people today?
- If there is one thing that people can’t live without today its electricity. It is
without a doubt one of the most important things that mark the era we
live in. Just imagine a world without electricity, you wouldn’t have TV’s,
computers, air conditioning, electric lights etc. That’s a world I wouldn’t
want to live in.
2. Identify at least 3 technologies born out of the PC’s and describe how they
are useful for everyone today.
*5G and Virtual Windows
-AI technology surrounding the modem, which further optimizes the data
stream and makes it both higher performing and vastly more reliable. To
make a virtualized Cloud experience work, you need a very robust
connection, and 4G just doesn’t get us there. But, according to Qualcomm,
5G hardware will directly address this issue and provide a way for those
with 5G hardware to have a virtual terminal with hosted workstation
performance.
*Head-mounted Display
- Coupled with imaging software that can incorporate what the camera
sees, you could address the one sustaining problem with living with a head-
mounted display. The inability to see a keyboard for finger placement, and
being isolated from the things around you.
*Battery Breakthroughs
-It may be hard to get excited about battery tech because we’ve had so
many promising battery breakthroughs that never made it to market. Part
of the problem is that for decades we didn’t focus much on batteries; only
in the last few years have we started investing in battery R&D again.
3. Did new technologies help in making humans more productive or have these
caused a decrease in the efficiency of work of people? Explain your answer
in at most 10 sentences.
-Depends on technology… BUT, in general, It has made production and
distribution more efficient, but decreases the need for the rank and file
labor be employed as automation removes the need in certain industrial,
manufacturing and even base services administration and retail arenas.
Even if re-educating labor to technology driven information or assembly,
transport or general communications and recreation or or hospitality -
There are not enough positions to go around - and there is just so many
needed in the hand construction housing or other areas for , skilled labor
required that can efficiently do the work. Even agricultural seasonal hand
labor, not machine harvested product, where tech is not that instrumental
won’t take up the unemployed that can do that kind of work.
