UI/UX Arena - Problem Statement

Theme: Anime Discovery Hub

Anime fans love finding new shows and sharing favorite moments. Your task is to
design a fun and modern website experience that helps fans discover new anime and
share their favorite scenes in a creative way.

Main Challenge

Design the key features of a website called OtakuLink - a hub where anime lovers can:
1. Get Personalized Anime Recommendations – Discover new anime that
match their mood or interests.
2. Create a “Scene-Saver” – Capture and decorate short anime moments
(under 15 seconds) with special effects.
3. Use AI-Enhanced Assistance Throughout the Experience
Integrate AI in the experience. This could be through a conversational
assistant, suggestion panels or interactive guides that help users.

Problem Statement
Your task is to design a fun, modern website experience where anime fans can discover
new shows, capture specific moments from anime clips, decorate those scenes
creatively, and use AI-powered assistance throughout their journey.

Task Breakdown (5 Hours 30 Minutes Total)

Phase 1: Understanding & Planning (40 minutes)

1. User Persona & Flow (15 marks)

● Create a concise user persona that represents a typical anime fan
using OtakuLink.
● Map out a user flow showing how a user moves through the core
experience, such as:
Open Website → Receive AI-powered recommendations → Select a clip →
Capture and decorate a Scene-Saver → Share the creation
● Identify one potential user pain point during the flow and explain how
the design addresses it.

Phase 2: High-Fidelity Design & Interactions (210 minutes)

2. Visual Design (30 marks)

● Turn your wireframes into high-quality Figma screens.

● Use a clean, modern layout with appropriate color palettes and

typography that ensures readability.

3. Interactive Prototype & Animations (30 marks)

● Connect your screens in Figma to make a clickable prototype.

● Add at least 3 micro-interactions:
1. Loading animation when the recommendation is generated.
2. Mood tag selection effect
3. Success animation after sharing the Scene-Saver.

TIP: Use Smart Animate for smooth transitions or button effects.

Phase 3: AI Integration & Design Rationale (80 minutes)

4. AI Integration Design (15 marks)

● Show a screen that highlights how AI is incorporated into the

overall experience - this can take any form that fits your concept.
● Include small visual or motion details that communicate the presence of
AI in an engaging, human-centered way.

Note: The task emphasizes the design and experience of AI, not its
functional implementation.

5. Design Rationale (10 marks)

In a Figma frame, clearly explain:
● Why do you choose your colors and fonts?
● How your design helps users makes the experience easy and enjoyable.
● Highlight anime-inspired visuals and effects.
● Add your user persona and short summary of your process.

Bonus: Add delight* to make the experience more immersive. This will count towards
your creativity!

Submission Requirements

Submit one Figma file (link set to “Anyone with the link can view”) that includes all
content in separate frames/sections within the file:

● User Persona & Flow

● High-Fidelity Screens

● AI Integration Screen
● Design Rationale

Tip: Organize each section clearly with frames so judges can navigate easily.

Goal
Create an experience that feels modern, anime-inspired, and enjoyable, helping
users explore, express, and share their love for anime moments with the world.

*Delight refers to small, thoughtful design touches that make the experience enjoyable,
memorable, or surprising. These don’t have to add core functionality, but they make the
user smile or feel a stronger connection to the product.

Tools Allowed
● Figma (Required)
● Optional: Pen & paper for rough sketches
