THE SOLAR SYSTEM PRESENTATION
- Astronaut: Hello teacher and classmates, welcome to my spaceship, today, we
are going to travel outer space to know the Milky Way and how our solar system
is made up. So, fasten your seatbelts, and let’s go!
- Martian: Hello humans, welcome to outer space, now we are in the Milky Way.
Planets, moons, and smaller bodies, such as comets and asteroids that also orbit
the Sun all form the Solar System.
- Sun: Hello, I’m the Sun and I’m the center of the solar system, I’m the closest
star from Earth and I support life on it by providing sunlight, which is your primary
source of energy. I allow plants to live and to grow and I determine the seasons,
the ocean currents, and the weather.
- Mercury: Hello, I’m Mercury. I’m the closest planet to the Sun and I am extremely
hot, that’s why I cannot sustain life. I am a rocky planet. My surface is full of
craters, and my atmosphere is weak.
- Venus: Hello I’m Venus. I am the second-closest planet to the Sun. I’m a rocky
planet. I’m similar in size and in composition to Earth, and sometimes I am known
as Earth’s twin. I’m covered by clouds that reflect sunlight. For that reason, I
appear as the brightest planet in the sky.
- Earth: Hello humans, this is your home, Earth, I’m the third-closest planet to the
Sun. As you already know, I’m the only known planet to have life. I’m a rocky
planet, but the most of my surface is covered by water. My atmosphere contains
air, which together with water provide living things with their basic needs to
survive.
- Mars: Hello, my name is Mars better known as “The Red Planet.” My red color is
probably the result of volcanic activity and many dust storms. I’m the fourth-
closest planet from the Sun, and I am the last of the rocky planets.
- Jupiter: Hello, I am the fifth planet from the Sun and the largest in the Solar
System. Also, I am the first of the “gas giants.” I have 49 rocky moons. The gases
that make up me are mainly hydrogen and helium.
- Saturn: Hello! My name is Saturn, I´m the sixth planet from the Sun and I’m also
a “gas giant”. I’m made mostly of hydrogen and helium. I have 7 beautiful rings
made of chunks of ice and rock and my atmosphere is thick.
- Uranus: Hello, I’m Uranus and I am a gas giant too. I’m the seventh planet from
the Sun and. My composition is mainly hydrogen and helium, and I have many
moons. I’m a gas giant too, but also, I’m known as “The Ice Giant” because I
contain frozen water in my atmosphere.
- Neptune: Hello, I’m Neptune, the last of the gas giants. I’m the eighth and the
farthest planet from the Sun; I am so far away that it takes me 165 Earth years to
orbit the Sun. As Neptune, I’m known as the other “ice giant” because I have water
in my atmosphere.
- Astronaut: OK. They are the 8 planets in our solar system, but what about this
little friend over there?
- Pluto: Hello! I am Pluto, I was considered a planet, but in 2006 I was categorized
as a dwarf planet because of my size. I’m closer to the Sun than Neptune and I´m
a rocky planet too. There are other famous dwarf planets called Ceres and Eris.
- Martian: Hey! Who is there traveling so fast?
- Halley’s Comet: Hello, my name is Halley. I’m the most famous comet ever
known because I usually come close to Earth every 76 years. Do you know that
comets are frozen leftovers from the formation of the solar system? We are
composed of dusk, rock, and ices.
- Asteroid: Hello. I’m an asteroid, I am in the solar system too. I’m a small rocky
object that orbits the sun. There are lots of asteroids like me in the solar system,
most of us are part of the asteroid belt, between Mars and Jupiter.
