Financial markets can be broadly classified into capital markets and money markets. Capital markets facilitate long-term funding and include the stock and bond markets, which support investments in bonds, stocks, and mutual funds. Money markets handle short-term borrowing and lending, often involving Treasury bills, commercial paper, and certificates of deposit. Their primary functions include mobilizing savings for investments, facilitating price discovery, improving liquidity, ensuring risk management and allocation, and aiding market participants in meeting their financing and investment needs.

National income can be calculated using three primary methods: the income method, the output method, and the expenditure method. The expenditure method totals all spending on final goods and services within a country during a specific period. The formula for the expenditure method is: GDP = C + I + G + (X-M), where C is consumer spending, I is investment made by industry, G is total government spending, X is exports, and M is imports.

Cloud computing significantly impacts modern businesses by providing flexible resources, reducing IT costs, and fostering business scalability. It allows companies to access resources on-demand, leading to improved efficiency and cost savings. Examples of cloud storage providers include Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft Azure, each offering distinct features like storage, networking, and databases.

Inflation, when moderate and predictable, can be beneficial to an economy by encouraging spending and investment, as individuals are less inclined to hoard money. It can reduce the real burden of debt and potentially boost economic growth by enabling more flexible price adjustments. However, excessive inflation can erode purchasing power and savings, leading to economic instability. The key is maintaining a balance that aligns with monetary policy objectives.

Globalization facilitates economic growth by enabling cross-border exchange of goods, services, technology, and capital, thus increasing efficiency and access to markets. It allows developing countries to expand their industrial base and access advanced technologies, which can promote higher productivity and job creation. However, globalization may also lead to increased competition and income disparity within nations. The overall impact on development is significant as it can accelerate economic growth, but it also requires effective policies to manage the downsides.

The primary factors affecting price elasticity of demand include the availability of substitutes, the proportion of income spent on the good, and the time horizon. If substitutes are readily available, demand is more elastic as consumers can switch to alternatives. Goods that take up a larger portion of income tend to have more elastic demand. Additionally, over a longer time frame, consumers have more opportunity to change their behavior, thus making demand more elastic.

Public sector banks in India are those where the majority stake is held by the government, allowing for a certain level of government control over operations. They typically focus on serving the broader public interest, especially in rural and underbanked regions. Private sector banks, on the other hand, have majority private ownership and are driven by profit motives, often resulting in more aggressive strategies for business expansion and better customer service offerings.

Microeconomics focuses on the behaviors of individuals and firms in making decisions regarding the allocation of limited resources, addressing issues like consumer behavior, individual labor markets, and the theory of firms. Macroeconomics, on the other hand, looks at the economy as a whole and deals with issues such as inflation, unemployment, and national income. For example, microeconomics would examine how a single firm can maximize its production output, whereas macroeconomics would look at national unemployment rates.

Emotional intelligence in management plays a crucial role by enhancing leaders' ability to understand and manage their emotions, empathize with others, and communicate effectively. High emotional intelligence fosters better teamwork, conflict resolution, and adaptability, creating a positive work environment. This contributes to improved decision-making and leadership effectiveness, as managers can better motivate and influence their teams by responding to their emotional and psychological needs competently.

Sunk costs refer to expenses that have already been incurred and cannot be recovered, having no influence on future decision-making. Opportunity costs represent the benefits foregone by choosing one alternative over another. In economic decision-making, unlike sunk costs, opportunity costs are considered to ensure resource allocation is optimized by evaluating the value of the next best alternative. Thus, ignoring sunk costs helps to keep decision-making forward-focused.
