1 |CANDIDACY
It was a decent day in my life. As a Grade 9 learner at the time, I held the position of a peace officer
within the SSLG organization. It was first introduced to me when I was in grade 9, my mind filled
with doubts and skepticism. I was going to run for SSLG vice president at that time. But surrender
in the last minute. And now that a new school year has started, I wanted to redeem myself and run
for SSLG president, but this time it was different: three party lists had an opportunity to sit and be
a part of the SSLG organization. And I was able to build my very first party list, named the RISING
PARTYLIST. Rising symbolizes the rise of young leaders whose main goal is student development,
the focus being on academics, mannerism, sports, passion, and mental health. My mind and
heart were full of joy and courage to serve our school with service that could shape my fellow
Inayagan students. And with all of the encouragement I have received, it further made my
foundation stronger to go for it and seize to capture the light that this opportunity gives.
This was my platform for my candidacy, with my
intentions of giving students a chance to shine
and capture the people’s attention with their
passions and talents. I constructed a program
called the DSSTA Troops to simplify it. Its
purpose is to foster and enhance the capabilities
of individuals who have a connection to
DANCING, SINGING, SPORTS, THEATRICAL, and
ARTS. Second, after that, is my CJP Program. Its
meaning is CAMPUS JOURNALISM PEEPS, which
opens an opportunity to students who want to
be a school journalist or participate in
workshops that practice their potential abilities.
And many of us have the OPEN DOOR POLICY,
to persuade students that we are open to talk
about their concerns, suggestions, and to be
able to help them with their struggles. If ever
they struggle with their academics, problems
with their household, or even those who are
struggling with uncontrolled emotions, habits,
and mindsets.
I was happy to be able to give a try to this journey, seeing that I was able to make all of my
platforms. I was confident in myself. I’ve met people who shaped my personality so much, with
each of our gatherings filled with conversations that made my determination more and more firm.
Preparing for our soon-to-be campaign was exciting. Cutting sashes, writing our platforms on a
large piece of cartolina, was fun. Every laughter, every sigh of tiredness. It was finally time to show
my people who this candidate can be. I may seem incapable with the responsibility, but I have
come so far that I cannot quit and let my fears interfere. With just one day left of preparation, I
made myself ready, rehearsed my speech, and made my posture confident and strong. Nothing
can stop me now, I kept in my mind the saying that goes “umulan man o bumagyo, lalaban ako”.
With a blink of my eyes, this is it. The day has come.
1 |CAMPAIGN DAY
The day has come; it was campaign day. I was bursting with happiness and hope to share my
vision for our school. It was 7:00 AM, and our party list was the first to be ready for our room-to-
room campaign. Even though it was early in the morning, we kept our energy fully charged. We
wanted to show the students that we are always ready for whatever challenges our school may
face. Our goal was to finish four sections of grade 7 learners, 8 learners, and 11 learners with the
deadline at 12:00 PM, so that we could eat our lunch and be ready for another section to
campaign. We had a total of 11 rooms to go through, and with our first room to campaign, I felt
nervous because I was the last to begin my speech. The buildup of my social anxiety made it
worse, but I remembered what my intentions for this run were: I wanted to make students feel
seen and appreciated. And if I don’t overcome my fears, how will I be a good example to students,
or how will I amplify their voices to responsible personnel in our school? That is my purpose, so
step by step, I redeemed myself to overcome it. There is no need to rush things and immediately
renew them; it takes time to process. I believe that you cannot build a strong foundation when you
rush it. To build a strong reservoir, you need a firm foundation. And that is relevant to the flood
control projects our country is facing. I left that room relieved and confident; it wasn’t as bad as I
initially thought. Our campaign for each room passed by quickly, each of us sweating not because
of nervousness but because of determination.
After the morning session, we still have to finish a new set of 8 classrooms to campaign. This time,
the learners are from grades 9,10, and 12. And they are a bit serious when it comes to leading our
school. I was a bit anxious since I would be facing students who are older than me. But there was
a person whom I kept thinking of at that time; he was the reason I gained so much confidence to
run for the position. And I kept telling myself that this is for him, my party list, and most of all for
our school. But we still need to get ready, and what better way to relieve myself is to eat my
lunch? I love eating.
1 |CAMPAIGN-VOTING DAY
After lunch, we immediately went room by room. Since we have limited time to campaign, we
went for a blast. For our strategy, we would first go to the rooms with grade 10 and 12 learners.
Since most of my party list were my classmates, who were in grade 9 at that time was going to feel
easy and confident. And indeed, when it’s time to campaign to grade 9 learners, it felt easy and
fast. And after all of the constant talking, my mouth was so dry. I needed water so bad that I had to
ditch one class. And after the campaign, my very first theater experience. It was for our
performance task in English. I’ve prepared the masterpiece together with our campaign day, and
reflecting on it. I am so proud of myself; the way I handled everything was impeccable.
We finished our campaign around 5:30 pm.
Around that time, we had our English subject.
The stage was set, actors were getting into
their costumes, and one last rehearsal was
held with the sound system and lighting. I was
the only one left who needed to get ready.
Despite the tiredness I was feeling, I pushed
myself to the limit. And take note, this was no
ordinary theater; it was a musical theater. So I
had to sing, while my voice had been tired
from speaking from room to room campaign.
And to add the cherry on top, our musical was
“Romeo and Juliet“ by William Shakespeare.
And to add more, I had two roles. The first
being Juliet’s arranged husband, Paris. And
Juliet’s brother, Tybalt. Both have lines to sing.
Though every sacrifice was worth it with the
grade we all received, it was not perfect, but it
still made a huge impact on our grade. We
scored a 98% on our performance as a group,
and an 90-95% individually. It was truly
possible because of our cooperation, and also
the money we all invested to make a decent
performance. A musical theater is not just a
role play; we were all diving and feeling the
legacy William Shakespeare left.
And then, the night went smoothly. We held a small party as a celebration of our victory in our very
eyes. We made the best out of our night, as all of the stress and hardships were finally over. And it
helped me, as I have been awake since 7 am that day, being up until 8 pm. I get to enjoy a bit with
my classmates and pause my duties at our school. But then again, voting day was around the
corner. The voting will immediately start tomorrow, and something inside me made me feel
excited; somehow, I am not feeling any pressure at all, nor even scared, nor doubted myself. It
was truly an improvement for me, being able to overcome my fear of not being good enough to be
a leader. With all of the events I have been facing tirelessly, I felt free, confident, and most
importantly, for a soon-to-be President, I felt prepared.
1 |VOTING DAY
It was finally time; voting day was underway. My name appeared first on the ballot, which I saw as
an advantage, allowing voters to see my name right away when selecting their president. As the
clock ticked away, the morning session concluded with my opponent trailing closely behind; she
was just two points away from victory, while I stood in second place. Despite this, I remained
confident that I could secure the top position. I had faith in my Grade 9 classmates. Finally, the
voting commenced, and, naturally, all my classmates cast their votes for me. Having experienced
my leadership in the classroom, they believed I was a strong candidate focused on learner
development rather than restrictions, unlike the other two party lists.
As the clock ticked down, the results were finally revealed. I didn’t secure the position of our
school’s SSLG President. A wave of emotions washed over me that night as I stared at my phone,
realizing my face was absent from the SSLG election results. While I felt disappointment at not
winning, I also found joy in the fact that half of my party list did succeed. In that moment, I felt
grateful for the experience; this isn't just an ending, but a fresh start. I was officially appointed as
the new BKB President of Inayagan National High School, and I was resolute in my commitment to
be responsible and proactive during my tenure.

2 |BRIGADA ESKWELA
Monday morning was the first day of Brigada Eskwela and enrollment day. The opening event was
going to start early at 8 AM. However, we were not instructed to be on duty by our organization
advisor. I was persistent in attending our school, hoping to fulfill my responsibilities. My vision for
my school was to have many students who are enjoying life with their high school journey, and my
mission was to give the most remarkable service, to be active anytime, to make them satisfied, if
any of them had concerns that needed to be addressed, and to implement any projects for the
greater good. That was the first thing my mind planted in my character, being a leader of a whole
campus is not just a position, but a service filled with fast action and choices that benefit
students.
On Tuesday, I was present for my duty on the help
desk. My job was to attach the forms necessary for
enrollment. All I had to do was staple papers, and
that was it; it was a fairly boring job. But, that very
instant, one of us needed to help guide parents to
the perspective facilities for each grade level. It is
tiring work, but you can roam around the school
campus, and that is my kind of duty. I don’t like
sitting while working, I can’t seem to focus when
being stationary at one place. Even working with
this journal has many trials and errors just by
sitting down.
Fast forward to Wednesday & Thursday, two
days of true labor and duties. We were
assigned to cut and place safety signs around
the school campus. And after that, we all
helped teachers move around their stuff to
their new classroom, where they will stay,
since the new school year has many changes
in class advisors, subject teachers, and the
assigned classrooms. Each day was
physically demanding, and we were all tired.
Despite all of the hardships, all of the officers
were rewarded with a lunch gathering. Where
we ate canned foods as payback for our
service to the school. And the day ended with
a group photo of each organization.

Each campus organization was instructed to make a logo that best represents us, and have a lot
of phases for our logo. And it starts here:
1st Logo: The BKB acronym in gold represents the value
of our organization’s duty.
The 4 figures that are lifting the acronym
represent the cooperation of the BKB officers
representing Barkada Kontra Bisyo.
The golden eagle represents the vision of the BKB
organization of a school filled with students who are
free from vices and any form of abuse or bullying.
2nd Logo:
The sunrise represents a new rise of young leaders
who are ready to fight and serve the youth with
empathy.
The shield represents the organization’s
responsibility to deflect any negativity
that may influence abuse, vices, and
bullying.
The book represents the new chapter we will be
writing on the history of the past BKB/BKD
organization with our reign as Barkada Kontra
Bisyo officers.
3rd Logo:
The logo of the BKB organization remains largely
unchanged. It was designed to harmonize with
other logos featuring a circular background. The
symbolism continues to reflect that of the
second logo, while the third logo serves as a
visual enhancement.

The last and final logo of the Barkada Kontra Bisyo organization, a combination of the past logos,
was merged together, thanks to a very well thought-out sharing of ideas.
Our organization strives to be a beacon for those who endure bullying and
abuse stemming from vices, while also serving as a guiding light for those

Our organization’s uniforms have many phases, the reasons being the change of color, logo, and
financial concerns.
1st DESIGN:
Type A
The initial uniform design consists
of two variations:
Type A: A simple yet budget-

pricier option, featuring a polo
shirt style instead of a
standard t-shirt.
2nd DESIGN:
Type A
The designs remain consistent,
with the only alteration being the
Type B color. However, in Type B,
significant modifications have
been made, including the logo's
placement on the side of the
uniform. This adjustment aims to
enhance visibility from a distance,
allowing for immediate
recognition as a BKB officer.

In this part, we experimented with a far more fun and cultural approach to our uniforms. Creating
the design was fun and filled with research to appropriately use the traditional ways of tribal
tattoos.
3rd DESIGN:
The objective of this uniform design was
to celebrate and enhance the tribal
aesthetics of the Philippines. Extensive
research went into this creation, as many
tribal tattoos feature symbols that I
might overlook or not apply correctly.
4th DESIGN:

This is the final selection for our uniform decision-making process. I chose not to include the
previous designs, as I was the creator of those and wanted to avoid wasting my fellow officers'
funds on a less-than-ideal uniform. Instead, I turned to a business that offers free t-shirt layouts
on Facebook. There, I discovered a design that truly caught my attention, thanks to the talented
designers at RMB Sportswear.
Serving as president was a challenging task; I was tasked with creating designs for our
organization. However, under my leadership, our organization became the first to present a design
officially recognized and utilized as a trademark. My initial doubts and fears of failure transformed
into swift and effective service, and I take pride in my prompt responses to tasks.
