Understanding Reversible Changes

The document discusses reversible changes, which are processes that allow materials to return to their original form. It outlines three main types of reversible changes: changes of state (like melting and freezing), mixing (which can be separated), and dissolving (where solids can be recovered from solutions). Various experiments are presented to illustrate these concepts, including melting chocolate, dissolving sugar in water, and the melting and freezing of ice.

REVERSIBLE CHANGE

BY SIRICHAT , SURIYA, NIKSA, ASHI AND NATTAPAT

Reversible Change
It’s a material that could be changed back to its original form.
Type of reversible changes are:
1. All changes of States are Reversible.
2. Mixing is a reversible change.
3. Dissolving is a reversible change.
1. All changes of states are reversible
Heating some solid substances can make it change into a liquid
substance (melting). Cooling the liquid turns it back to a solid
again.
Sample for no.1
2. Mixing is a reversible change
Mixture can be separated by sieving, filtration and
evaporation. Mixing is reversible because you can get back
what you started with.
Sample for no. 2

Mixture of sand, salt and water

3. Dissolving is a reversible change
Some solids dissolve in liquid when you mix them together. It’s a
reversible change, because you can get the solid back.
Sample for no. 3

Dissolving sugar in water Evaporating the water to get sugar back

Niksa’s Experiment
When you heat a substance it will melt and if you
freeze it again it will be the same form but the
texture will not be the same as the first form.
Sirichat’s experiment
Chocolate goes soft and gooey
The chocolate bar got heated
and became liquid chocolate. when you heat it. When it cools
down, it goes hard again. The
chocolate change back to how it
was before.

After that, the liquid

chocolate got freeze
and became solid
chocolate again.
Suriya’s experiment
When we put sugar in water,
the sugar dissolve in the water
and form sugar solution. When
we heat the water, the water
evaporate and we can get the
sugar back.
Nattapat’s experiment
When ice is exposed to the sun it begins to
melt and turn into water, but when we
freeze, it turns back into ice.
Ashi’s experiment
Evaporation is also an example of
reversible change. The water gets heated
and evaporates (water vapour). After some
period of time, the water vapour becomes
droplets of water and starts falling down
(precipitation). Finally, the water which was
in the container becomes full.
