Speaking Part 1 interview
1. I believe that someone needs to be emotionally intelligent and reasonably
empathetic towards staff if they want to be considered a good boss.I believe that
someone needs to be reasonably outgoing and extremely respectful towards the
people around them if they want to be considered a good neighbour. I believe
that someone needs to be absolutely trustworthy and reasonably empathetic
towards the people around them if they want to be considered a good friend.
a. That was a really solid answer! You showed a good range of vocabulary and
made clear distinctions for each role. To elevate it even more to a C2 level,
you could add some nuanced examples or perhaps elaborate on how these
traits impact relationships. Overall, though, very well done!
C2-Level Example Answer:
"In my view, a truly effective boss embodies a blend of emotional intelligence and
visionary leadership. They not only understand and manage their own emotions but also
empathize with their team, fostering a supportive and productive environment. As for a
good neighbor, I believe that a blend of respect for privacy and a willingness to lend a
hand is paramount, as it creates a sense of community and trust. When it comes to a

good friend, trustworthiness is indispensable, coupled with genuine empathy, as it
ensures a deep and meaningful connection. Each of these roles requires a unique yet
overlapping set of traits that ultimately foster trust and cooperation."
2. I believe that everyone has one way or another been influenced by both global
trends and local traditions. That being said, it’s quite difficult for me to decide
whether my interests stem from local traditions or global influences, however, I
do believe that global trends have had a huge amount of impact on the things
that I like.
a. That was a great answer as well! You showed a thoughtful reflection and a
nice balance between the global and local influences. To push it even further,
you could add an example or two to illustrate your point. But overall, that
was very strong!
C2-Level Example Answer:
"Undoubtedly, my personal interests are shaped by an intricate interplay of global trends
and local traditions. On a global scale, the digital age has undeniably broadened my
horizons, introducing me to diverse cultures, ideas, and artistic expressions that I might
not have encountered otherwise. Conversely, my roots in local traditions provide a
grounding influence, instilling in me values and preferences that are deeply ingrained in
my cultural heritage. It's this delicate balance that makes my interests both unique and
universally resonant."
3. That’s a good question. I’d never thought about it before. I usually dress casually,
so I believe that people might say that I’m somewhat outgoing and reasonably
talkative.
a. That was a nice, candid answer! You were clear and gave a personal touch.
To reach that C2 level, you might want to expand a bit more, maybe by
discussing how your style influences others' perceptions or how it might
change in different contexts. But overall, it was great!
C2-Level Example Answer:
"The way we dress undoubtedly serves as a non-verbal cue that can reveal facets of our
personality, values, and even our lifestyle. I believe that while clothing can provide a

glimpse into one’s tastes and possibly their mood, it only scratches the surface of who
they are. For instance, someone dressed in a tailored suit might be perceived as
meticulous and professional, but that doesn’t necessarily reveal their creativity or
warmth. In essence, while attire can offer clues, it’s the deeper interactions that truly
unveil one’s character."
4. I honestly don’t think it’s easy to get to know new people. For me personally it’s
something that I have always struggled with. I tend to avoid starting
conversations with people I don’t know which ultimately leads to me not getting
to know new people very often.
a. That was very honest and relatable, and you gave a clear picture of your
experience. To elevate it a bit more, you could explore why that is, maybe
add a bit of reflection on how it affects you or how you've tried to overcome
it. But overall, it was a really good answer!
C2-Level Example Answer:
"Navigating the social landscape and forming new connections is a nuanced endeavor.
Personally, I find that while I can engage in conversation with relative ease, the deeper,
more meaningful relationships require time and a genuine mutual understanding. I tend
to be somewhat reserved initially, which means I might not find it 'easy' in a
conventional sense, but I believe that this measured approach often results in more
authentic and lasting connections."
5. I believe that that both character traits are extremely important, however I tend to
think that resilience is absolutely more valued due to to the fact that it’s
reasonably easier to show whereas sensitivity might be slightly more difficult to
show.
a. That was a thoughtful answer! You presented a clear argument and
explained your reasoning well. To push it to that C2 level, you could add a bit
more depth, maybe provide a real-world example or discuss situations where
one trait might be valued over the other. But overall, it was great!
C2-Level Example Answer:
"This is a compelling dichotomy, as both resilience and sensitivity are invaluable in their
own right. Society often appears to place a premium on resilience, valuing the ability to

withstand adversity and persevere in the face of challenges. However, sensitivity is
increasingly being recognized as a strength, fostering empathy, emotional intelligence,
and deeper social bonds. In essence, the ideal society would value a harmonious blend
of both, recognizing that resilience propels us forward while sensitivity enriches our
human experience."
