🎤 Slide 1 – Title & Group Introduction
Good day, everyone. We are Grade 11 Practical Nursing students from the
International College of Immaculate.
Our research is entitled “Adherence to Safety Protocols in Clinical Settings
Among Grade 11 Practical Nursing Students of ICI.”
I am Niña Grace Tumarong and joining me are my groupmates:
Catherine Fe Cris Abong, Michelle Mary Rose Quinto, Patricia Angel Bas, and
Jian Meave Maning.
Together, we conducted this study to understand how students like us follow
safety practices during clinical exposure.
Slide 2 – Background of the Study
Safety protocols are very important in nursing. They help protect both
patients and healthcare workers from infection and accidents.
However, some students fail to follow these protocols properly due to limited
knowledge, supervision, and time pressure.
This motivated us to conduct this study to assess how well nursing students
at ICI adhere to these safety standards.
Slide 3 – Statement of the Problem
The main problem of our study was to determine the level of adherence of
Grade 11 Practical Nursing students to safety protocols in clinical settings.
Specifically, we aimed to find out what factors influence their adherence and
what challenges they encounter in following these safety measures.
Slide 4 – Significance of the Study
This study is significant for several groups.
For students, it increases awareness about the importance of following safety
guidelines.
For teachers and the school, it helps identify areas to improve in training and
supervision.
For future researchers, it serves as a reference for similar studies in nursing
education.
Slide 5 – Scope and Delimitation
Our study focused only on Grade 11 Practical Nursing students at ICI.
We concentrated on their knowledge and adherence to hand hygiene, proper
use of PPE, waste disposal, and patient safety.
It was limited to one school and involved only ten respondents.
Slide 6 – Research Design & Data Collection
We used a descriptive qualitative research design.
Data were collected through a survey with open-ended questions and
short interviews.
We analyzed the data using thematic analysis, which involved coding
responses and grouping them into themes.
To ensure reliability, we conducted member checking and peer review of
our data.
Slide 7 – Demographic Profile
There were ten participants in our study — seven females and three males,
all aged between sixteen and eighteen.
All were Grade 11 students under the Practical Nursing strand of the TVL
track at ICI.

Our respondents were ten Practical Nursing students from ICI — seven
females and three males, all aged between sixteen and eighteen years old.
Slide 8 – Key Findings (Themes)
From our analysis, three main themes emerged:
First, Awareness and Knowledge of Safety Protocols – Students showed good
understanding of safety rules, such as hand hygiene and PPE use.
Second, Influencing Factors – Adherence depended on supervision and the
availability of materials.
Third, Challenges Encountered – Students admitted forgetting some steps
during busy or stressful moments.
Slide 9 – Ethical Considerations
Before conducting the study, we obtained permission from the school and
provided consent forms to all participants.
The study involved minimal risk, and participation was voluntary.
Confidentiality was strictly maintained by using codes such as P01 to P10
instead of real names.
Slide 10 – Conclusions
We concluded that most students are aware and generally follow safety
protocols.
However, their adherence is affected by supervision, the learning
environment, and the availability of resources.
This highlights the importance of continuous monitoring and proper guidance
during training.
Slide 11 – Recommendations
Based on our findings, we recommend:
(1) Conducting more safety training and drills,
(2) Providing complete PPE and sanitation supplies,
(3) Maintaining close supervision by instructors, and
(4) Encouraging more studies involving other year levels to compare results.
