Scene 1: (At the couple’s house)

(Marie and John are sitting on the couch, a photo album open between them)

Marie: (smiling) look at this one! Our trip to Paris? We were so young and in love

John: (chuckling) You got fever for days, remember?

Marie: (laugh) I did! But I wouldn’t trade that memory for anything.

Marie: John, do you ever think about…. About our future?

John: (silence)

Marie: I just wish…. I wish we could start a family.

(John’s expression darkens as he looks away)

John: I know, Marie. But sometimes… Life doesn’t go as planned

(Marie nods)

(After their conversation, John briefly excused himself from Marie to get something from his
coworker, Angel.)

John: Marie, can I step outside for a minute?

Marie: Where are you going?

John: I'm going to my coworker's to pick up some papers.

Marie: What time will you be back?

John: I don't know, but don't worry, I'll text you when I'm on my way home.
Marie: Okay, don't forget to update me. (She said this with a sweet smile.)

John: Sure, hon.

John Marie

I love you! I love you!

Scene 2: (In the living room)

(Marie was alone and decided to clean the house and change the bed linens. After a few hours,
she wondered why John hadn't returned. She decided to text him.)

(While holding her phone, Marie's face was full of worry.)

Marie: John, what time is it? Why aren't you home yet?

John: I'm on my way home now, just wait, hon.

Marie: Come home soon; I want to show you something.

John: Sorry, Marie, but I promise I'm on my way. Wait for me; I brought bouquet of roses for
you.

Marie: Okay, okay. Be careful driving home. Drive slowly.

John: Yes, I will.

(While Marie was waiting, John arrived home with a bouquet of roses.)

Marie: Why did it take you so long? What were you doing? (She asked, her voice slightly
annoyed.)

John: Uh, Angel and I were finishing up some paperwork we need for our upcoming report. (He
said this calmly.)

Marie: That's all? Were you on a date with someone else?

John: With someone else? No, Marie, it's only you I love.

Marie: Okay, sorry for being suspicious.

John: It's okay, hon. By the way, these are for you. (He gives her the flowers.)

Marie: Wow, these are beautiful! "I love you so much!"

John: I love you too! But Marie…(Restlessly)

Marie: Yes? What is it, John? (She asked inquisitively.)

John: Can I bring Angel over to our house? We just need to finish something up.

Marie: Sure, why not? It's work-related.

John: Thank you, hon! (He hugged Marie.)

Marie: You're welcome!

Scene 3: (In the couple’s room)

(The next day, John invites Angel, his workmate, to their house for a meeting. Marie notices
them working in the bedroom. Thinking they might be hungry, she decides to bring them food.)

( Marie carries a tray of food upstairs and opens the door without knocking. She sees John and
Angel kissing. The tray drops to the floor.

Marie: (shocked) J-john?!

(John and Angel quickly pull away, startled.)

John: Marie, it’s not what you think!

Marie: (tears in her eyes) Not what I think? I saw everything!

(Marie runs out of the room, sobbing. Angel looks at John, unsure.)

(Marie runs to the bathroom, locks the door, and sits on the floor, crying uncontrollably. She
pulls out her phone and sends a message to her best friend, Elly.)
Marie: Elly, please come to the house. I need you. I can’t do this alone.

(Marie keeps crying while waiting for Elly. After some time, there’s a knock on the door. Marie
wipes her tears and opens it. Elly rushes in and hugs her tightly.)

Elly: What happened? (worriedly)

Marie: John… he cheated on me.

(John enters, looking devastated.)

John: Marie, please let me explain!

Marie: Explain? I saw you kissing her!

John: She’s just my workmate. It was a mistake!

Marie: A mistake? How long has this been going on?

(Elly stands up.)

Elly: I think you two need to talk alone. I’ll leave for now.

(Elly leaves OFF. John kneels in front of Marie.)

John: Marie, I’m so sorry. I know I hurt you, but I love you.

Marie: If you loved me, why did you do that?

John: I was wrong. I’ll do anything to fix this.

(Marie looks at him, tears streaming down her face.)

Marie: You broke my trust, John. I don’t know if I can forgive you.
Scene 4: (Back in the living room)

(While they were still arguing, their mother, Analyn, came in unexpectedly.)

Analyn: John, Marie, What’s going on here? Why you guys shouting and arguing?

(Marie ran quickly to Analyn and sobbed in her arms.)

John: (voice trembling) Mom!

Marie: (crying) Mom…

Analyn: Hmm, why Marie?

John: Marie, let me explain fir—(He said this in front of Marie, but Marie suddenly spoke.)

Marie: Mom, John, cheated on me.

(Marie looks at him with pain in her eyes)

Marie: I thought you loved me, John.

John: I do, I do love you

Marie: But you chose her

John: I was wrong, Marie.

John: Mom, I’m sorry (he said while his voice was trembling), I know it’s been a lot from you,
but I hope you both forgive me, and I promise to myself that I will change everything.

(Angel and Ryza enter)

Ryza: What happened? Why Marie’s crying? (Ryza asked Angel)

Angel: I don’t know (She said that even though she knew what happened.)

Ryza: Maybe it’s time to step back, Angel!

Angel: You’re right!

(Ryza and Angel left)

John: I never meant to hurt you, Marie

Marie: But you already did.

Analyn: Whatever you choose, we are here for you no matter what.

Scene 5: (Back to the couple’s room)

(In the middle of the night, during a heated argument between Marie and John, Marie suddenly
fainted. Everyone was shocked and worried, so they quickly carried Marie to the bed.)

(Marie is in bed, frail and pale, while Analyn sits beside her, holding her hand.)

Analyn: You’re a fighter my love.

(John enters, looking distraught)

John: Marie...

(Marie open her eyes weakly)

John: I’m so sorry. I see it now. I love you.

Marie: But it’s too late, isn’t it?

John: Why didn’t you tell me that you have sick?

Marie: I just want to have some time with you without thinking of death. I also don’t want you to
struggle because of me, but what’s happening now? I’m the one who is struggling because of
you.
John: Please, don’t say that.

Analyn: You need to make peace with her before it’s too late

( Marie looks up at John, her eyes filled with sadness)

Marie: I want to believe in us. ( she whispered, her voice weak)

(John held her hand)

John: I never stopped loving you. (he said softly)

( He saw how hard it was for her to breathe. A single tear rolled down her cheek.)

John: It’s okay to let go, Marie. (he whispered, his voice thick with unshed tears.)

John: You’ve fought so hard. Rest now, my love!

(While John was saying many things to Marie, she tried to fight and listen to what John wanted
to say. But she gradually found it difficult to breathe because of her serious illness. In the midst
of her struggle, a tear fell from her eye—a sign of her surrender.)
