Peer Pressure

1. Introduction
Peer pressure means the influence that individuals of similar “age, social
status, or background (peers) have each other’s decisions, behaviors, and
attitudes. Peer pressure often involves conformity,
where a person changes their behavior, values, or
attitudes to align with those of their peers. It can be
positive, such as motivation someone to study
harder or adopt healthy habits, or negative,
such as encouraging risky or harmful behaviors.
“Is peer pressure always harmful, or can it
sometimes lead to positive change?”

“Peer pressure is like fire when guided well, its can lights your path, spark motivation, and
help you grow into a better version of yourself. But if you misused, it can burn, mislead, and
cause lasting harm that’s difficult to [Link] pressure can have several negative effects,
such as causing individual to lose their sense of identity by trying to fit in, leading to poor
decision like engaging in harmful behaviors, and increasing stress or anxiety from trying to
mart others’ expectations. Its also damage important relationships and lower self-esteem
when people people constantly change themselves to please others. To control peer
pressure, it is important to know and stick to your own values, choose friends who respect
your decisions, and learns to say no confidently. Seeking support from family, teachers, or

This topic is important for my age group because we are in stage
of building our identity, boosting self-confidence, and developing

aim to find out how peer pressure affects teenage, which areas of
life are most impacted, and how they respond to these influences

I conducted a survey asking,”have you ever joined in making fun of someone just
because your friends were doing, even if you felt it was wrong?the results showed
that 10% admitted doing it often, 20% said they sometime joined in, and 25% said
they rarely did it. The largest group, 45%,answered that they never participation in
such behavior. From this result, it is clear that while a good number of people
manage to resist this kind of peer pressure, they are still quite a few who have given
in at some point, even though they knew it was [Link] highlights how

I got 19 responses to the question,”have you ever changed your options or answer in class
because your friends disagree with you??” Out of these, 26.3% said they had done many
times, while the large number group,42.1%, admitted they had done it a few times.
Meanwhile,15.8% Sid it happened only once or twice, and another 15.8% said they never
changed their answers because of friends’ disagreement. This shows that most students
have, at least occasionally, been influenced by their friends’ opinions in class, rather than
fully trusting their own answers. It also highlights how peer pressure can easy shape
classroom decisions. Standing firms in own’s own option can sometimes be challenging,
especially in a group setting.

I got 20 responses to the question,”Have you ever bought something(clothes, gadgets,

shoes) only because your friends had it too??” From these, 10% admitted they had done this
multiple times, 25% said they occasionally did it, and the larger group, 40%, said they had
Doen it once or twice. Meanwhile, 25% stated they had never bought something just
because their friends had it. These results shows that the majority of people have, at least
once, been influenced by their friends’ purchases. It reflects how social trends and peer
influence can play s big role in shaping what we choose to buy, even if it’s not something
