Business Plan for Flavored Siomai Business

I. Business Plan Title

“SavorSiomai: A Flavor Explosion in Every Bite”
“Siomai Supreme: Premium Flavored Siomai for Every Taste”

II. Introduction

Siomai, a popular Filipino snack, has been a staple in the country’s street food scene for many years.
Traditionally made from ground pork, beef, or shrimp, it has earned its place in Filipino culture as an affordable,
savory, and easily accessible snack. However, as consumer preferences evolve, there is a growing demand for
more innovative and diverse food options, especially those that provide a fresh twist on traditional snacks. In
this context, the introduction of flavored siomai presents a unique opportunity to cater to the changing tastes of
consumers.

According to Lee and Kim (2021), the Asian food market is seeing a surge in interest in creative and diverse
flavor profiles, as consumers seek new experiences with traditional dishes. This trend is not limited to Asian
markets; Chen and Wang (2020) also highlight how fusion and innovative flavors are gaining popularity
globally, with more people looking for food that offers both a familiar taste and an exciting new twist. In the
Philippines, food preferences are shifting, especially among younger generations who are more adventurous
and open to trying new flavors. Gomez (2023) notes that the Filipino food industry is increasingly becoming
more dynamic, with an increasing number of consumers demanding premium, flavorful, and healthier snack
options.

In terms of siomai, however, the market remains largely focused on traditional flavors, such as pork, shrimp,
and beef, with little variety or innovation. As stated by Reyes (2022), while siomai continues to be a beloved
snack, its flavor offerings have remained relatively stagnant, with minimal evolution beyond the classic options.
This lack of variety presents a significant gap in the market, especially when younger consumers are
increasingly seeking more dynamic, creative, and healthier alternatives in their snack choices. Moreover, De
Guzman (2024) emphasizes that food trends in Cebu and other major urban areas show a demand for
innovative food products that align with modern consumer preferences, particularly those looking for both
convenience and a premium experience.

Despite the popularity of siomai, there is a noticeable absence of flavored options that cater to the growing
demand for more adventurous and health-conscious snacks. As Chen and Wang (2020) suggest, fusion foods
and new flavor profiles are becoming essential in attracting today’s consumers, particularly in urban markets.
This presents a significant opportunity to offer a variety of flavored siomai, such as cheese-filled, spicy BBQ,
shrimp and crab, as well as healthier alternatives like chicken and vegetable-based siomai. Without introducing
these new and diverse options, businesses may miss out on catering to a critical segment of the market that is
eager for unique food experiences and healthier alternatives (Reyes, 2022).

III. Solution

Proposed Product/Service
SavorSiomai offers a wide range of flavored siomai, incorporating both traditional and modern flavors. Our
menu will include options such as Spicy BBQ Siomai, Cheese-filled Siomai, Shrimp and Crab Siomai, and
even healthier options like Chicken and Vegetable Siomai. This product line caters to diverse tastes, ensuring
there’s something for everyone.

Business Name
SavorSiomai

Logo
[Insert logo here – a fun and appetizing design with a siomai silhouette, vibrant colors to represent different
flavors, and a sleek, modern font for the name.]
Tagline
“Savor the Flavor in Every Bite!”

IV. Target Market/Audience

Location
SavorSiomai will operate in urban areas, focusing on Metro Manila initially. We will expand to other major cities
(like Cebu, Davao) once the brand is established.

Primary Target Market:

Young professionals and college students (ages 18-35), who are looking for affordable yet premium snacks.
Foodies who love trying new, innovative, and exciting flavors.
People who value quick, tasty, and filling snacks for lunch breaks or late-night cravings.

Secondary Target Market:

Families and small business owners who want high-quality, flavorful snacks for gatherings or events.
Health-conscious individuals looking for leaner, more nutritious versions of siomai (e.g., chicken or veggie
options).

V. Competitive Advantage/Unique Selling Proposition

“SavorSiomai” will be the first local brand to offer a variety of flavored siomai options that cater to both
traditional and adventurous tastes, providing a unique twist on a classic snack. We stand out from our
competitors by offering premium ingredients, diverse flavor choices (including healthier options), and excellent
customer service. Our siomai will be made fresh daily using high-quality ingredients, ensuring consistency and
satisfaction with every bite.

Key Differentiators:
Flavor innovation with choices like Spicy BBQ, Cheese-filled, Shrimp & Crab, and more.
Health-conscious options like chicken and vegetable siomai.
Freshly made daily with premium ingredients and local flavors.

VI. Financials
Capital
PHP 150,000 (for product development, initial inventory, and marketing costs).

Production Plan:
Estimate the production quantities and corresponding revenue.

Here's a sample table:

Period Units to Produce Unit Price (PHP) Total Revenue (PHP)

Daily 200 units 35 7,000

Weekly 1,400 units 35 49,000

Monthly 6,000 units 35 210,000

Yearly 72,000 units 35 2,520,000

Projected Profit
Projected Monthly Profit = PHP 210,000 Revenue – PHP 150,000 Costs (ingredients, labor, marketing, etc.) =
PHP 60,000 Profit.

VII. Call to Action

To encourage potential customers to buy your flavored siomai, create a 3-month marketing campaign with
engaging promotions and visuals.
Marketing Collateral for 3 Months:
Month 1
Launch a social media contest with the hashtag #FlavorfulSiomaiChallenge, encouraging customers to post
their own creative siomai combinations. Winners will receive free siomai for a month.
Offer a "Buy 1, Get 1 Free" promo for first-time customers visiting the store or ordering online.

Month 2
Partner with local food bloggers and influencers for sponsored posts to showcase the unique flavors and
quality of SavorSiomai. Provide them with tasting kits to share their experiences with their followers.
Launch limited-time seasonal flavors (e.g., a “Summer Spicy Siomai” or “Cheesy Delight” for the holidays).

Month 3
Create a loyalty program where customers can collect points for each purchase, earning discounts or free
siomai after a certain number of visits.
Organize a “Flavored Siomai Pop-Up” at a local mall or food market for direct interaction with potential
customers.

By executing these strategies, SavorSiomai will effectively build brand awareness and create a loyal customer
base in just three months.
