Week 6 AI Fault Diagnosis Workouts

This week's participant workouts focus on diagnosing real machine faults using RAPID AI and IndusDiagBot through hands-on testing and iterative improvement. Participants will select a machine fault case, validate AI outputs, identify areas for improvement, and document their findings. Optional challenges include testing sensor fusion, handling edge cases, and proposing interface improvements.

Week 6 Participant Workouts - Tinkering, Testing & Iteration

Overview

This week's exercises focus on diagnosing real machine faults using RAPID AI and IndusDiagBot.

Participants will engage in hands-on testing, AI output validation, and iterative improvement of the diagnostic

pipeline.

Participant Workouts

- Select a real-world machine fault case from your dataset (e.g., pump, fan, motor, or gearbox).

- Run the fault through the IndusDiagBot or RAPID AI prototype.

- Record the AI's diagnosis, suggested failure mode, confidence score, and RUL (if available).

- Validate AI output with your own engineering judgment or SME insights.

- Identify one area of improvement - e.g., rule logic, sensor threshold, model parameter.

- Modify the AI logic or input parameters and re-run the case.

- Compare results: Before vs After Iteration. Note what changed and why.

- Fill out the RAPID Diagnostic Evaluation Checklist for both runs.

- Complete the RAPID AI Hands-On Worksheet to capture learnings.

- Submit one documented iteration with visuals and key insights to the group workspace by end of the week.

Optional Advanced Challenges

- Run multiple sensor fusion (vibration + thermal) and observe contradiction or correlation.

- Try edge cases - high noise or partial data - and assess how AI handles uncertainty.

- Design a new rule to detect misalignment or resonance and test it.

- Propose one interface improvement that helps explain the AI's decision more clearly.
